I am looking for filing cabinet/s that I can use to store tabbed folders rather than use hanging folders, I do not have any cabinets at present and any ideas or recommendations would be greatly appreciated as this is proving to be a LOT harder to sort out than I expected! will travel

You could possibly order online - though this crowd seem a bit sniffy about shipping to N.Ireland so worth giving them a tinkle if they have anything you like the look of.
This crowd deliver for free to NI but are perhaps a bit more on the pricey side.
There is always IKEA if you want to have an afternoon of hell in their shop, then another afternoon of hell assembling whatever offering you might choose from them.
Modern are based in Belfast, though I don't think they have an actual shop. Maybe if you give them a call an explain what you're looking for they could suggest something appropriate for your files and show it to you in their online catalogue. They apparently deliver and assemble for free... what a bargain!0 -
try advertising on freecycle or the free section of gumtree - theres bound to be people looking to get rid of theirs.0

Thanks for these suggestions I will try them out.
The main problem is I am trying to get away from the hanging folders and most of the new cabinets are made for these. The best chance I have of getting one is an old second hand one. I will try gumtree and if anyone knows of anywhere else that might sell these that would be great.
Thanks again for help already given0 -
To buy new Viking Direct is your best bet, a hell of a lot cheaper than anywhere else for them and free next day delivery too
You could as others have said try freecycle or gumtree or try ebay local for secondhand collectables as postage would be astronomical:oI am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:0 -
Try Altona Auctions in Lisburn, last time I was in they had various filing cabinets / drawers etc. Think viewing most days and sale on Wed pm.0

Another alternative would perhaps be to investigate a supply of files which are wide enough to go into a standard sized filing cabinet without having to be suspended - perhaps a bit cheaper than buying a great big cabinet. If there are enough in the drawer they will stay upright, but otherwise choose a filing cabinet which has drawers with a moveable stopper thing to lean the files against.0

You could try Graham Davison office supplies outside Portadown, they always have a large selection of new and second hand filing cabinets.0
