Mon 3rd What small DFW things will you do today?

:cheesy:When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.
:money:

Hope it's alright to post this, I don't see one for this morning already?

:)

  • Hello! Where is everyone today?!

Thanks to zepsgal for starting us off

Made some of the Christmas cards yesterday and finally got OH to get sewing machine down to finish cushion covers/start sewing quilt.

    Today's MSE things:

B/L/D from stores (must make a decision on what to have for dinner)

    Charge phone in work

Poss a little bit of overtime

Check that new finance person knows we get paid early in Dec :rotfl:

    Heating off as milder today

Cut out fabric for cushion covers and tack together. Bit nervous about them because have to attach a zip and have never done this before. Apparently sewing machine has magical zip foot  no idea how to use. Stitchy - please help!!!

    Order OH's strings online

Buy train tickets for mum's (not ms but money related!)

Update next month's budget to accomodate the rest of OH's Christmas present and train tickets.

Not sure what else. Head is a bit woolly today. Having very strange vivid dreams last night (too much cheese perhaps?!)

Hope everyone has a good day :)

Your machine should have a zip foot, it looks like your normal foot but with one side missing.... Clip off the usual foot and clip that one on. When you are sewing the zip, the zip should be at the side where the half foot is missing.... Iykwim??

I managed to sew a zip into the side of a dog bed I made a few weeks ago, if I can manage it, anyone can :rotfl:

    Hi there,

    Here I am :)

Hope you are all doing a-ok.

I'm busy getting my bedroom organised and been completely swamped at work so not even been able to post from here (tut tut - imagine work getting in the way of real life :D )

    Here's me:
    :)Bought 2nd hand wardrobes :D
:)Replying to other ad for 2nd hand drawers - can't wait to get my clothes/wardrobe organised
:)Taking flex tomorrow - getting carpet fitted - M&D buying us a new bedroom carpet :)
:)Leftovers for tea tonight - cooked ham - will make a pie with leftovers/bottom of the fridge stuff :)
:) Deciding what to do with old mattress - It's been up for sale for 2 weeks and I keep lowering the price - don't know whether to give it to charity as they'll pick it up/make my life easier/be good for my karma :D
:)Mystery Shopping - new free outfit for Christmas
:)Bit of voluntary work for pensions advisory service - trying to get a guy a pension I think he's due - good for karma and t'old CV :p
:)Be happy that I've not used my credit card for a month and hope I don't have to again…

Catch up with y'all later. Big hugs.
  • Afternoon guys, hope you all had a lovely weekend :D

    http://www.cookuk.co.uk/vegetarian/Cheese_Onion_Potato_Pasty.htm

recipe as requested :) I followed this receipe the first time, but I think I should have made 6 instead of 4 out of one pack.

Yesterday I did corned beef, peas & onions in some & a vegetable one with veg kicking around and a tin of mushroom soup

    Today's efforts:

    * checked banking
    * all meals from stores
    * applied for a job and looked for others
    * went to the supermarket for work and didn't buy impulse buys
    * went to car parts shop and got 3 clips for my bumper for £4.10 & fixed it rather than paying for a garage to fix it :j
    * weigh myself & stick to diet!
    * stay at work tonight and look for jobs rather than driving home and then driving back into the town I work for the sewing group

Hope you all have a lovely day

  • Finally started maternity leave so I feel i have more time to to do DFW things yay.

Over the weekend, I was stood in HMV looking at all the christmas DVDs and wanted to buy them all but instead came home and looked through TV guide and recorded all the films n the telly over the weekend (inc Jack Frost and muppets christmas carol, both were on my to buy list!), this afternoon I'm going to do the same for the rest of the week :)

Listed all my remaining christmas presents to buy and worked out I have a total of £235s worth left :(, I'm frantically searching for discount codes and cheaper deals to try and get this below £200!! not having much luck but I am determined :)

Will also be listing some baby clothes on eBay, we have been given lots of clothes from other people who said anything we didn't want to just throw away, :) that's not very MSE so hopefully I will make something! Did list some vests last week and didn't have any joy, I may have a peek at how many people but in a bundle to make them sell.

That's it for me today I think, :-) xx
2017 wins so far: Diddly squat :(

You know, I've never made a cheese and onion pastie :o One of my favorite ever 'fast and cheap' dinners as well, and I've never made them.

I have made lovely veggie ones a while back, from the River cottage Veg book. Made the pastry and everything :p Filled with chunks of potato, carrot and turnip (swede for all you southeners :rotfl:). Really should make them again, they were delicious :)

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
Had porridge from my desk drawer instead of buying the crumpets I fancied.

Bought a small loaf which, with 2 pots of beans in my drawer and cheese in the works fridge, will be lunch for the week.

Talked myself out of buying a mini fridge to stop the butter thief using my butter and put it in someone else's instead
