Hiya,
Really hope someone can help as we are at a loss as to what is best to do !
I was discharged from bankruptcy 18 months ago and have been very lucky to be supported financially for the past few years by my other half (whos credit is fine) Thing is....he has bought a house 6 months ago (our first home) which is great as we are now all living together with out little boy a family... but
At the moment obviously everthing is in his name and only he is on the electoral register (I am still registered at a previous family address) but I need to register at our new home as we have children and there are various things tax credits ect...so I need to register her.... but
We need to change lenders in 18 months time as the rate jumps up after the first 2 years but we are very concerned that if I (discharged bankrupt) am on the electoral roll here we wont be able to get a mortgage/good rate...
If anyone can advise ... then that would be great as we are stuck !!
Hope Ive made sense here
Thanks !

Hi pickle,
If everything is in your O.H's name it shouldn't jeopardise a mortgage application in his name only; I'm assuming you don't have a joint bank account because if you do it would be a good idea to have your name taken off.
It would be worth checking with a solicitor, or you could enquire with a mortgage broker if it would cause a problem. It's always worth trying to get as many opinions as you can and sometimes you really do need the advice of an expert.
Best regards

As far as I am aware searches are now made on the individual rather than the address.BCSC Member 70:j

Hi All - don't know if i,m doing this right but here goes! Richard I noticed on one of your replys that you managed to negotiate with your creditors for 25p in the pound before going BR. I have debts with Nat West and Barclays totalling approx £100K, have you or anybody else had dealings with these people where the sort of settlements you mentioned have been achieved. Just like to say what a fantastic bunch of people on this website, it give you a bit of faith in human nature
