Olive oil offers.

I noticed I'm running low on olive oil and jus had a quick look at offers, has anyone seen any "unmissable" deals??

Asda has Napolina Extra Virgin Olive Oil (1L) for £3 and my target to beat for extra virgin 1l.

Tesco have small infused oil @ 3 for 2 (£1.50 each), so quite good at £1 per bottle if buying 3.
Tesco Finest Basil Infused Olive Oil (250ml)
Tesco Finest Garlic Infused Olive Oil (250ml)
Tesco Finest Chilli Infused Olive Oil (250ml
Sun Grown Extra Virgin Olive Oil (750ml) - (£2.92 litre), just less than branded Napolina.

Morries have Olivio Vegetable & Olive Oil Blend (1L) for £2 - blended though.

I always buy a couple of bottles in Greece and get a big can from the airport on the way out so I don't get stung for excess baggage .
Went twice this year so was able to stock up , I have one bottle that came from a farmer and it was single estate , it's really tasty
    The original janiebaby ;)
  • Doesn't beat the price but certainly beats the quality of the oils you mentioned. Approved Food have some very good olive oil for £0.99 per 250ml at the moment.

If anyone is after organic olive oil, S, T and A have it at the same price, £2.48/9, I've used both T's and S's and they are both very good, but this is the one I would personally recommend.
Organic olive oil has a stronger taste, so you need less than ordinary oil, which is good if you are trying to limit your calories..

(and don't forget that anything not extra virgin, or 'light' is lower quality, and weaker oil)

Like terra_firma says the own brand organic Extra Virgin olive oil at ASDA and Tesco is 2.48 for 500ml and 2.49 at Sainsbury's

Sainsbury's also sells 500ml unfiltered SO organic Extra Virgin olive oil for the same price.

Tesco had a special offer a few weeks ago selling them for £2 each so I stocked up.

I've tried all of them and buy the ASDA mostly and the Sainsbury's SO unfiltered for salads.

Olive oil has a stronger taste than sunflower oil but once you get used to it you don't taste it so much.

Waitrose Cook's Ingredient Aberdeen Angus Beef Dripping is 99p for a 200g jar (and 2 for 1.50 at Waitrose and Ocado to 04/12/12) and lasts ages.

Britannia Beef finest additive free beef dripping 500g is cheaper still - 72p at Tesco, 71p at Ocado and 69p at Sainsbury's.

Lard is an alternative .. ASDA SmartPrice lard 250g 39p, Sainsbury's Basics lard 250g 49p, Tesco Everyday Value lard 250g 49p, Kerrymaid lard 250g 49p Waitrose, 49p Ocado, 50p Iceland

Sounds like you don't like the taste of EVO, but it, that's why I buy it, instead of other cheap oil... :) I don't have any other type of oil (except sesame for stir fry), but I don't deep fry otherwise I would use another vegetable oil.

APPROVED FOOD HAVE JUST INCREASED THE PRICE TO £1.99
DO THEY MONITOR THESE BOARDS, OR MAYBE INCREASE THE PRICE WHEN SOMETHING SELLS LIKE AMAZON DO?

It was one of their weekend special offers as it has been for the last couple of weekends. I wouldn't be surprised if it was on offer for 99p again next weekend too if it is still in stock then. If I recall correctly they have dropped the price on a Tuesday a couple of times too so it's worth checking daily to see when it's on offer again.
It's still a good saving considering it is usually around £60 per litre but personally I would just keep an eye on it & hold off on ordering until the next time it goes down to 99p.

I DO like the taste and often fry with organic EV olive oil but when we started frying with it, it did seem strange for a while.

I won't use any other oil for frying but do often use butter or ghee for omelettes and dripping for fried breakfasts,

I expected dripping to taste really strong but the commercial stuff doesn't.

    Don't own a deep-fryer either. ;)

    I've been Money Tipped!
The Asda £3 EV is now over £6, but manages to get a bottle yesterday.
Scanned at new price, but put through at £3 as SEL still showed £3.
Tesco 3 for 2 small bottles have ended and missed them!!

B&M Stores have 1 litre bottles of EV olive oil for £2.49. I'm not 100% sure, but think it's "Sun Grown" brand??
I should have bought a bottle, hopefully some left tomorrow.
