Help with teacher's pension???

That'll be a link briefly summarising the 85 year rule. As the OP joined before 2006 it might apply, but because her age (60) and service (7 years) added together don't come anywhere near 85, it doesn't, making 65 her normal retirement age in the LGPS.0 -
I'm 62. I was in a similar situation and took my teacher's pension about a year and a half before I retired from local authority work. I could have taken my state pension at 60 but deferred that until I retired, to receive more. I then took my L.A. pension too - you don't have to be 65 - it depends when your state pension age is. The one thing you MUST be careful of - make sure you tell your tax office about everything you receive in triplicate. Because they gave my teachers' pension provider and my L.A. employer my tax codes, I assumed they knew what I was getting, but I now have to pay a year and a half's tax shortfall because they didn't provide the correct code while I was still working.
Good luck!0
