Thoughts please

Just need to talk to someone! My partner and I had our offer accepted on a house that would be great for us. Offer 169000, mortgage needed 92000. Thought everything was going well, now it appears he cannot get a mortgage due to a poor credit history. Owes no money now but did up until 3 months ago. I am not working at present (was made redundant) I have further funds in bank but not enough to buy house outright. Was really needing this house as it would allow me to start building relationships with my grown up children who took the split up of me and their dad really hard. Thought we had a mortgage arranged last week but GE money wont lend to anyone who has used Pay Day loan Companies in the past and my partner has. My credit rating is excellent, this is tearing us apart. Is there any hope of us being able to raise the 70000 needed.

What is actually on his credit report?

Be specific with dates, amounts, etc.

    See a broker.
  • Have been in touch with 2 brokers, one said would be unable to offer us any help for at least 2 years. The other (who specialises in poor credit) said there would be no probs, studied credit report, offered us a pre approved mortgage from ge money, said credit checks had been done. Then on Friday told us that we had been turned down by GE money due to the Pay day Loans. We knew that GE money did not like Pay Day Loans and kept asking broker if the credit check was ok and they said it was. Total despair this weekend.

If you have gone to GE money, im presuming you already have a broker? They only deal with brokers dont they?

Sorry my last post over lapped with yours.

Let us know a bit more about your partners poor credit:
    Defaults/CCJs - amounts, dates, when/if satisfied.
Late/Missed payments, how many in the last 12, 24 months.

Im sure there will be a way. GE money can be good for some people but they can also be quite selective.

I thought the defaults were your partner's.
In another thread you started last month, it seems like they are yours.

  • Defaults are all my partners. We both sign in to the forum. Apart from a previous mortgage which was paid off last year I have never had any loans in my life.
