can you get a mortgage with a DMP?

Anyone know if you can get/apply for a mortgage whilst under a Debt Management Plan? My wife's finances are fine and not affected, so no worries from one side. If so, anyone know any good companies and how a DMp affects things?

Thanks and best of luck to all!

Your wife can, assuming your credit records are disassociated, but I doubt if you can - having a DMP means you can't afford the debt you already have. Plus, you probably have lots of defaults / arrears etc on your credit report.

  • Are you looking to remortgage to pay off the debts or buy a new home? I am a mortgage adviser and there are companies who would look at either scenario but if you are purchasing you will need a deposit
