Pension Pot - Death in Service.

common for people in pension scheme, rare for no pension scheme
I have worked for a company (medium sized, I was low level) that provided a death in service insurance plan, and I think my current employer does too.
2 employers out of the (maybe) 5 I've had, isn't rare.

For myself I get-
If you die while you are an employee of the Group, the following are payable:
A cash lump sum (known as life cover) of 4 x your basic pay
The value of your account (Pension pot)
An additional cash lump sum of 4 x your basic pay if you have a qualifying dependant.0
