annoyed at work!

I work part time at work- thursday & friday nights 6-10, which is great as i get the bus home (costing 1.35) and i do all day sunday, when i have to get a taxi home (costs a fiver) well they landed on me last night to say that i will need to work longer - till 10.30- the last bus home is 10.30- so i will need to get a taxi home on all of the nights which is going to cost me 15 pounds in total! I only get paid 70 pounds ish a week! so if i deduct 15 pounds from that-well i only get 55 pounds! No-one at my work drives, and if they do they all live in the opposite direction from me & are not prepared to give me a lift! Might have to start looking around for something else! Grrrrr
Now im debt free i want to be fat free too!

Oh Hannah,
What a pain! Can you see if your work will let you leave a few minutes early and start a bit early or something?
It can't hurt to ask...

Oh, how annoying, when you haven't got much money coming in from the job in the first place!
Can you explain to them about needing to get the last bus home, otherwise you will have to get a cab, which will severely hit your part-time earnings? Do you have a personnel/Human Resources dept or even a union rep you can speak to about this informally? I wouldn't have thought any employer could change your working hours just like that, especially when it's going to have such an impact on your income. You've got the same rights as a full-time employee to have a proper discussion about your working conditions. If you don't particularly like the job anyway, then it might be better to look for something else, but if you enjoy it, then surely you should be able to come to an amicable agreement about this.BSC #53 - "Never mistake activity for achievement."

Have you mentionned your arrangements to your boss?
Maybe if they would let you go at 10:15 instead?
Have to confess as a boss, I would probably say to my staff I would pay them an extra hour per week to help make up for the extra cost to them...
Then again I've got a really small team and it wouldnt get round to top dogs or other storesWealth is not measured by currency0 -
when i first started i mentioned this and my boss said no probs you will always be out of here a lot sooner than 10.30 anyways! I am supposed to work till 10.00 but never get out of the place till at least 10.25- luckily bus stops right outside my work! The girl that i work with on a thursday night is also my team leader, and she is in exactly the same position as me, but did say to have a word with one of the other bosses! (we have 5 bosses at work!) My hubby did say about asking if this would be covered by expenses given that its outside of public transport hours (for me anyway)- i will ask tonight and let you know how i get on- no harm in asking is there! Now im debt free i want to be fat free too!0

How about asking your boss to pay for the taxis? I know that some pubs do this for their staff when they have to leave late at night. I'm sure other companies would do this.
