Help. Jam trouble

I've just made a batch of strawberry jam and it has frothy bits in. It looks like it has been spat in. I made it for inlaws and as tempting as it would have been to spit in it. I didn't lol.
Has anyone come across this before or know what I did wrong? It tastes nices but doesn't look nice.

it's probably the scum that rises to the top on boiling - did you skim any out? Or perhaps not enough.
One way to get rid of the residual scum after skimming is to drop a small knob of butter into the hot jam - no help now but maybe if you make it again.
I have, in the past, reboiled marmalade - tipped it into pan & washed the pot & stuck it into the dishwasher to dry. So maybe you could fish out the bits & heat jam, then put into clean, warm but dry jar?

Thanks. The recipe did say butter optional in the ingredients I guess that's why. Thanks for the suggestions. I might just use this an excuse to eat this batch and make a new batch another time as it tastes nice.
