ni credits underpaid by dwp

hi, i am currently being messed about by dwp. they underpaid my ni credits. when i first called they said they had to request information from storage and that i should call back in 2 weeks. well i called back yesterday and they said they would call me this morning and didnt. i called them again just over 90 minutes ago and they said i would get called back within 1 hour. as you might have guessed they havent called back. what do you suggest i do? i do have access to solicitors through being a member of a union but i am not sure how much they help with such a matter.

If you feel really strongly about it, use the complaints procedure. http://www.dwp.gov.uk/contact-us/complaints-and-appeals/ though that won't necessarily get you a faster response.

I'm not sure how much help a solicitor would be either.

as far as useing a solicitor goes. well surely withholding ni credits that a person is legally entitled to is very dodgy legally?

Withholding and screwing up the paperwork are 2 entirely different things. Complain in writing.

when i have phoned them they have said they will sort it out and then they dont bother.
