Working Tax Credit - Statutory Maternity Pay?

Hi everyone
I am on receipt of Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) until January 2013. However my work contract ended on August 2012. I was entitled to 39weeks of SMP because I had worked there for a year.
I was receiving working tax credit, and assumed I would be receiving it while I am on SMP, however they stopped my working tax credit in August 2012.
Should I be getting working tax credit for the duration of my SMP?
Many thanks
p.s. I am abroad when they stopped mu working tax and have not been able to call them.
