Slim Tone Plus/Body cleanse scam

I have just been the victim of a scam, due to an advert on the Supanet home page. The company was Slim Tone Plus/Body Cleanse. The company took money from my bank account, using my debit card, following a free trial offer, which only the postage was charged, I had to give my bank card details for the postage so therefore, they had my details.

When I received the items, 01 November, I was suspicious of the fact there was no address on paperwork and in the small print 'terms and conditions' unless they were cancelled and returned within 14 days of the ORDER DATE, 29 October I would have to pay £37.50 per item (£112.50). i.e. 1 item in package and 2 items in the other.

I immediately telephoned the company and told them I did not want the products and how/where should I return them. After three attempts, by them of offering reduced purchase price, they eventually gave me the details. I was told to send International Recorded Delivery (£8.76) so they had proof of purchase and gave me two sets of numbers, one for each set of products, put them on them front of the envelope and return by the 27 November. I mentioned that it said on paperwork to return within 14 days but was told I was given extra time but I posted them back within the 14 days anyway. I did not send recorded delivery as it would make no difference sending by ordinary mail (£2.93) as long as I had proof of postage which I did. I also copied the envelope with the numbers and information required.

On the evening of 13 November I noticed, when I went online to by bank account, that my balance had £75 less than I accounted for. Yesterday (night) 14 November, It came to light that this £75 was taken by Slim Tone Plus. I immediately phoned my bank and they 'googled' the company and said I, along with many others, had been the victim of a scam. I had a very restless night until I could speak to the fraud department this morning, when I mentioned the name they knew immediately the procedure of the scam. Fortunately the bank are going to reimburse my £75 and make sure that no more money is paid to this company using my debit card and should it happen they will reimburse me and continue to claim the money back from the company.

What I want to know from Supanet is, why are you allowing unscrupulous companies to advertise on your site?. I consider that I am very careful normally with whom I deal with and when I let my guard down I became a victim and that if I give my custom to a company for a service then that company should make sure I, as their client, is as safe as possible and people/companies like this one is checked out which is not difficult to do. Yes, you might say I should have checked myself but if I am paying for a service then I expect my security to be taken care of, especially as I have been a client of Supanet for many years, in spite of many offers to go elsewhere and better, cheaper offers, but I have stayed with Supanet because I trusted them to take care of me. Well now I feel I can't trust Supanet, so what is the advantage of me staying with you in the future?

I look forward to your reply.

I DID GET A REPLY AS FOLLOWS:
We are most sorry to hear of the recent incident regarding the company

AND I THEN REPLIED

Thank you so much for taking notice of my complaint and acting upon it.

I thought I was complaining into a big black hole and that nothing would be
done about it, so thank you again for giving me some justice and making me
feel better.

Kindest regards

Then yesterday, even though the Company acknowledged by email to me, that they received the items returned, £37.50 was taken from my account by BODY CLEANSE and my lovely bank have again returned it to me and will continue to do so every time they take it.

I was so angry at being conned but now I feel I have the last laugh.

  • Hi,

I wonder if you could help me, I notice you seem to have been a victim of the same sort of scam. My mother has just been a victim also - as with she order the "free trial". Decided to cancel and went through the long drawn out automated phone calls.

Since getting returns label and sending back the half set of tablets as requested £75.00 has been deducted from her account.

What I would be grateful to know is who it is you bank with, if you dont mind providing that info? Only my mother banks with Santander who told her as it was a card payment transaction she could not reclaim the money and also that she could not stop any further transactions going on unless she closed her bank account?

Im eager to know how you managed to get your bank to refund you the money?

Many thanks in advance for any information you can provide!

    Kind regards
