Wine - https://www.winehq.com (you can just install this from the package manager within ubuntu, simple as putting a tick in a box and clicking apply) This allows ubuntu/linux to run windows applications in its native environment (in a nutshell), on their website there is a list of apps/games which are tested and given ratings (gold/silver etc..) on their reliability.
also, VMware, also available in the package manager, this actually creates a virtual machine which you can install any operating system you like on and run it in a window (or full screen) on your desktop, but it acts independantly so you can do what you like to it and it won't affect the rest of your computer..moo0 -
