All Seasons (9.5+4.5 tog) versus 10.5 tog duvet

Hi Everyone.

I am in the market for a new double duvet. I am looking to buy a top of the range down duvet and therefore want to make the right decision.

My question is, what are the advantages and disadvantages of an All Seasons duvet, made up of a 9 and 4.5 tog which can be used separately in the warmer months or poppered together in winter versus an ordinary standard 10.5 tog duvet.

Thank you in advance for all your advice.

  • You have an all round versatile duvet rather than one duvet that might be too cold or too hot, although we had one of these years ago and now only use the 4.5 because it's enough for the summer and in the winter we have heating on so don't use any other.

We bought these some years ago, the lighter ones are used, sometimes we have tried the heavier ones but even those on their own are too much.

the two together would be far far too much, I think it'[s been more of a marketing thing really.
    Cost us a fortune too.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

I'm a chilly mortal and find the all seasons duvets ideal. Mine is a total of 15tog. I use the 2 duvets together in the really chilly weather, then the 10.5 tog in the autumn/early winter and the 4.5 tog in the warmer summer months.

Would never go back to an ordinary duvet I have to say.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

Advantages? The 'All Seasons' duvets come with a method to secure the two duvets together such as a popper or velcro on each corner. You wouldn't need to be a skilled seamstress to add this ability to any two duvets ;)

Disadvantages? You'll be charged twice as much to get it cleaned compared to one duvet.

I can't be bothered with a 4 seasons. I have a warm winter duvet, and a light summer duvet, and I have never needed anything else.
