  • it is their money

Not it's the shareholders money and in some cases the majority shareholder is the taxpayer...of which I am one!

Why would I do that...I haven't rung them yet! I am merely asking for people's experiences!

Perhaps I should rephrase my initial question.

Do any Mortgage Advisors on the forum have any experience of securing a CTL for their clients who also had a reserve amount attached to their mortgage?
My question may be simple...but please don't assume that I am

Mortgage advisors are unlikely to act in this capacity for a client.

Barclays recapitalised by seeking funding from the Middle East in the form of new share capital. Not funded at all by the UK taxpayer.

But what does it matter if people do have experience? Doesn't mean you will or won't get declined

I didn't suggest Barclays were owned by UK taxpayer, but some of the banks are & it doesn't really matter to me whether they are taxpayer owned or not, all banking practices should be more open and transparent as long as there are no commercial disadvantages in doing so.

Banks are quick to throw money at people when things are good but changed the goalposts quickly when things stopped going there way and are now expecting people to accept changes or decisions without challenge. Often there's only one winner from these changes and it's rarely the customer! and the impact of those decisions can have long lasting devastating implications for families.

All I am merely asking for are people's experiences, my reasons for doing so are my own, therefore if you have no experience of this I see no reason to offer your opinion!

You have obviously formed your own opinion on the matter and are therefore only interested in views that fit your criteria. So will refrain from commenting further. I wish you well with your crusade.

    Hi All,

Does anyone have any experience of receiving consent to let their home when they have an Openplan Flexible Barclays Woolwich Mortgage with a reserve they have made use of?

    Many thanks
    LP
We have some friends who have recently moved abroad and are renting their house out. No problems with the consent to let, but Barclays froze the reserve amount so they can't withdraw anything further.
  • Thanks Shimrod

Do you know if they had to repay any of the reserve, or did they just stop them spending from it?
My question may be simple...but please don't assume that I am

Sorry to join this thread so late, but was searching and came across this ...
Was wondering how you got on with getting permission to let as my parents have an open plan with reserve and want permission to let.
I keep thinking that they will try and get them to move over to a buy to let??

    Thanks if you're still around
