Hi
Advice please I am aware OR has to be informed of any changes whilst BR. I am actively seeking work and am not AD until Feb 2013.
My questions are:-
1) If I should receive offer of work do I let OR know and can IPA be applied from that date.
2) Or do I inform once I accept job and IPA is from the actual start date of employment.
Dont want to get it wrong, have aplied for a number of posts and am hoping I will pass the selection tests and subsequent interviews really want to get back into work as have been ill this year and now am making good progress and getting life back together and want to get back into work.
Any advice appreciated. Thank you.

you need to inform the OR within 21 days of a change, so if you get the job as long as within 21 days of starting you tell your OR then your fine.
An IPA only starts when you sign the agreement, so it is not from when you start earning excess income but only after it's in place.0 -
I dont know the answer just wanted to wish you all the best in your search for work and recovery from your illness.

Thank you both for your responses as always everyone is always so helpful and supportive on this board. Funnily enough have just received a letter from OR stating have applied ro Sec of state- releasing themselves as trustees as part of process for my AD.
I feel so much better in myself and hope to build on my confidence as has been badly knocked getting back to work will be good for me and a fresh new start all round and will also be able to concentrate more without all debts and stress and worry.
Gone through a lot this year, illness, personal stuff and my mothers death to deal with but at last am getting back- not to old self but I feel a new more bgalanced person, in control of finances and more easygoing than I was.Has been a very reflective year and I feel for the first time in many, many years I have had time to think whats important and know I really did the right thing for myself by going BR.
I wsh anyone going through hard times all the best and you will eventually get there.0 -

You have to notify the OR within 21 days of a change in circumstances. Some would argue that the change only occurs on your first pay day, as until that point you haven't had a change in your income. Others would say that starting work is the change. Either way if you get a job and notify before your automatic discharge, you risk an IPA for 36 months, whereas you are so near to February 2013 it may make financial sense to wait before starting work until 21 days before your discharge.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. The wording in the IA1986 says it's 21 days from becoming "aware" of the change, so you certainly can't say that is when you receive the increased income in your first payday.
I would say that it would be 21 days from the date you start work, as up until that point any increase is hypothetical and contingent on the job going ahead.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

The big point is whether it would be worth starting a job in January and having an IPA going in to 2016 or delaying starting work until February and not having an IPA at all.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Hi Silvercar
Yes you may be right as my AD is in 1st week of Feb and I have come this far I will take this into consideration and arrange start date ( if am lucky enough to get work) for Feb after AD. Hasd I already been in work at onset of my BR then would have no trouble paying an IPA for 36 months ad would fully accept that but at this stage I really would like to start fresh without IPA.
Thanks for your post- was not thinking clearly and makes more sense for me personally.0
