Student Loan and Mortgage - Help!

We are just about to start applying for a mortgage and boyfriend has just remembered he had a student loan. He has no idea how much the loan amount is for but says they tend to take around £10 from his pay every couple of months (so not every month!). I'm assuming we will have to declare this on our application?
If so, as we are in Scotland do we just contact SAAS to find out just how much his loan is for?
