Phew, I have finally put £1300 into the savings account. As I also have a very fluctuating income I won't update sig until the end of the month just in case; I can't bear the thought of having to lower it! March should also be a good month for us, so keeping everything crossed.
Sealed pot is also going well, that is our holiday spending money.
Will try and catch up with the thread later, happy saving everyone!Make £2020 in 2020 £178.81/£2020

Thanks for adding me to the original post
I've managed to squirrel away £1,200 in January! Currently considering opening a Santander 123 account since the interest is a lot higher than even savings accounts right now. On target!0 -
Hello everyone
I've not been around much this month - busy illness etc. But I've been saving and keeping records.
Also been a birthday month (January) so I've had a few vouchers as pressies (will count them in the totals).
As menionted before I'm counting income from sales of books, ebay etc, any income from interest and payments from mystery shopping and where I buy a bargain and save money. At the end of the year I will pay any available savings into the mortage.
So total savings for January is a grand total of £1088.00 for me.
Really good I think. I've made lots of changes in shopping - changing to own brands and now shop in Aldi before I go anywhere else. Seems to save time too.
One thing I'm about to trial is buying prepaid spend cards which offer 6% plus on purchases. Not sure about it yet as it sounds like a faff but will let you know. At the moment I'm using Crazynot to and Sainsburys prepaid gift cards. Not a recommendation yet but will let you know how I get on.
All the best everyone and will change my signature to sure the update. Thank you Slowlyfading.

Yeah very nice. I am on commission. So far the best month I have was £4,800 after tax. :j Hard work though...0 -
I am on price work which is more or less just like commission. I am aiming to have at least 1 £5,000 net income month this year. January was about £2,000.....as it is always the worst month of the year!
If I get a £5,000 one with a few £4,000 the £20,000 will be achieved surely! Just feels a long way off so doing it in 2 and aiming for £10k first so I'm over 21% my way to target one!! Sounds better like that.
Some people here are doing fantastic already, I don't really get going until summer.:eek:Living frugally at 24

You've just moved so that will be expensive. Don't be so hard on yourself £2k is fab!! :T0 -
Hoping to save £200 this month which would put me back on track to save £2000 this year, which I would be delighted with. Trying to do as much overtime as I can at the moment, but its difficult what with being busy doing 4 A levels. Managed 7.5 hours overtime this week on top of the 8 hours I'm contracted to do and off college this week so expect to do another 12-14 hour week, so am well on track to earn £280-£300 this month, in which case I should be able to achieve £200 savings

Well done everyone on your savings so far - I'm finding great motivation from reading about how well you're all doing.
After my slow start in January (picking up the bills from Christmas), things are looking even tighter in February for me...we've just booked our main holiday plus I've had to pay for work on the car's engine - so the budget's currently only showing £160 left for savings this month.
On the positive front though, I've switched us to a cheaper gas/electricity supplier and fixed price for 18 months, plus we've applied to have a water meter fitted cos I reckon we are paying way over the odds for relatively little water. Now I just need to stop myself from buying expensive coffees & cakes in the staff canteen at work...Save 12k in 2013-2014-2015-2016-2017-2018-2019-2020-2021-2022 - then early-retired.0 -
I've just filled in my form for January! OOps, Thought I had already done it. Had saved £300, which is better than nothing. Am worried that I won't get much saved this month but we will see.Former Debt free wannabe. Now trying to save for a rainy day!0

Just managed to catch up with the posts.
Nikki2804 - congratulations, hope it all goes smoothly.
Cydney65 - Well done you for clearing that debt - great achievement.
Nothing more to report yet this month but hope that this changes in the next few days. Have ended up paying for a couple of school trips for grand children as their dad's job has been a bit slack for a few weeks but picking up now thank goodness.
Keep at it everyone.MARCH £62.38/2500
