But, in the past, to ensure I've saved the 'best amount' I can, I've always transferred over way more than I anticipate being able to save into a savings account. Then trickle it back into my main account as needed. I find that I'm more conscious of what I'm spending this way and less likely to spend so frivolously. Plus when you see a nice high figure in your savings account it makes you reluctant to take anything back out. :rotfl:
This is exactly what I've done this month, £275 into the savings (not updated sig because I can't see it all staying there til the end of the month!) problem is, I've been feeling like a bit of a failure as I know some of it will have to come back to be spent! It really helps to try and see it as a strategy, rather than a failed attempt.
To further hinder my savings for the moment, due to a bit of incompetent management I won't be getting about 1/4 of my pay due end of Feb, til March payday. I'll then get extra taxed on it and somehow have to make it through March without that money and a trip away! Great.0 -
Heartfelt congratulations nikki2804. Take good care of yourself.
I have been eyeing a North American fund to add to my S&S ISA for a while and have now taken the plunge for £1,000. Have added the total in my signature and will update the spreadsheet at the end of the month.
As luck would have it, no sooner had I completed the transaction, I got an email from my tenant in Cape Town that the boiler in my house has given up the ghost! No guesses where my savings for the next month will be spent! Arghhhhhh .....

Hope to put away £1k this month with a lot of hard work and being über frugal. Not feeling so bad about the £800 I gave to the sibling, shes found a small room to rent out in an apartment with 3 lovely girls so I'm happy I could help her out and make her happy
Have some students arriving on Sunday for 10 nights so that'll be about £220 to add, my food allowance will only increase slightly and as its girls I doubt they will eat a thing!£20k in 2023 = £2718 £2023 in 2023 = £196.41 Grocery challenge £250= £195.80 **MONEY MAKES ME HAPPY**0 -

I had enough trouble convincing the presenter that I was £17000 in debt 4 years ago. Trying to explain to him that my slightly nutty OH has a perversion which includes Wensleydale with cranberries wrapped in clingfilm was always going to be a tough call.
OH still claims there are two packets of cheese in the fridge...THERE ARE THREE...starting to think her eyesight is going!
Does the 'visual impairment' apply only to dairy products?!
Just put £150 into savings account. Being self employed it's very up and down, no time to work out what money needs to be transferred to where at the moment but keeping head above water, I think! Well done all on amazing efforts and results so far!0 -
It's a very good month for me... will get £3,800... Hurray! Planning to put in 3k into the savings... fingers crossed...0
