I don't think this is cheating. If I get the PPI refund I am hoping for (and it is a big IF, it is with the FO at the mo) I will be putting that to savings and declaring it here. It may only be £50 though.
I'm all set for February!Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000

Put another £140 into the ISA with £440 going into my online account.
Total saved for January = £690.
Now with all my left over money, I have to pay for 2 tyres, a night out, 85 to a family member and fuel. It has to be done!!
Next month should be a lot less, no overtime.
Bring it on! £190 over my monthly target.
Hope everyone else is doing as we'll.
Well I've paid for the 2 tyres, £120 later. The money was returned to the family member and I haven't spent another penny yet!
Something on my car has broken and its going to be about £100 to repair! Dammmmm.
Just wondering though, I've got 2 ten year savings plans through work, and that takes £50 a month out of my salary. I also contribute 10% of my pay which is between £200-£250 a month. Do I count this towards my savings?
And some more news, I got accepted for a nationwide credit card, £1500 limit at 12.9%. That's awesome considering my old one was 30%! Will use this to pay my fuel every month! And hopefully my car insurance when it's due in the coming months, this will save the huge interest I have been paying monthly!
Thank god January is nearly over, what a long month!House deposit £2800/£10000
:j£7200 in 24 months = £300 a month:j0 -
rather pathetically I can only claim 100€ saved in January aswe have short term cash flow criss (at least it should be short term!). It's astart though I suppose.
let's hope february is better!Trying to keep in budget.

Definitely! It's money you are saving, even if you don't get to see it.Save £12k in 2022 thread #7:
Save £10,000 Jan-May 2022 THEN RETIRE!!
Final total for (half) year: -£4,0000 -
Wonderful we've had so many join this thread, and particularly those with moderate amounts to save, and young savers and students too.
I'm declaring £1300.29 as my January total. I'm really pleased with my start to my year. I don't anticipate that future months will be quite as productive - but I am quite determined to save as much as I can in February.
A couple of folks mentioned about including pension contributions in savings. I hadn't thought about doing that during the 2012 challenge. I've always taken pension contributions out of my self-employed income account before putting aside an amount for the taxman & the rest into a pot that pays me 'a salary' by regular standing order. I probably won't include my pension contributions as part of my savings. Two reasons. Firstly, I think it helps me to view my pension contributions like a bill that has to be paid. That way it disciplines me to make sure I pay into my pension on a regular basis. Secondly, I don't intend to access my SIPP pension for some years to come (even though I could do) and I like to think of my savings for this 2013 challenge as a pot building up towards the end of the year that I can then use as I decide. I think it's more motivating for me that way. (Pensions savings never seem quite so exciting - although I know that they should be!)
But in my view - for what it's worth - I think it is up to each person to decide for themselves whether or not they want to include pension contributions as part of their 2013 savings pot. It's what helps you to save that matters.

nicedream Think it should be 'well done' for setting a challenging total, not letting that first week's low mood carry over, and then doing so well with actually achieving so much in the following weeks. :T0 -
I have made it to £1593 in Jan. Very pleased! Great motivation here! :jDebt Free 25th August 2010 with PAD !!TARGETS :

Managed to put together an extra £220 bringing my total to this month to £700
Won't have as much extra spare in coming months with car bills coming up (MOT, Service and Tax). That puts me ahead of what I'm aiming for for now so I'm chuffed.
Great work this month everyone, here's to the next 11. :beer:0
