Spreadsheet and first post updated :D

Please can I just ask for you to fill in the form at the front on the last day of the month with your monthly total in full?

It's just that if people do it every time they add something to the pot, it adds an awful lot more work!

    Thank you! :D

    Sorry :P

Just for the end of this month do you want a total amount then or what I add to it by the end of the month?

It's not just you ;) so, at the end of January, fill in the form with the amount you save in January :) then, at the end of Feb, what you've saved in Feb, not the full amount of savings, if that makes sense? :)

Ok, so I already submitted a £200 entry which has been updated. If I meet my £1,000 target for the month put an entry for £1,000 and not £800 to top it up to the £1,000 :o
  • just looked online at bank balance and got £7.20 quidco :D

Also got paid £55 ish for an agency shift I did before xmas which I will try to save as spent more than intended at xmas...

On the plus side I have bought some xmas presents in the sale for next year! At least the money spent was on this!

Good luck everyone, I'll update Jan totals at end of month...
    Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000

    Hi everyone,

Have also just officially made my first saving deposit. £1,000 to start off with which I will slap into an ISA come April.

    Keep saving and smiling,

Why don't you put it in an ISA now ? I understood you can only put £5640 in a year (April to March) so if you want to save £12K this year only £5640 will be tax free.

But you still have £5640 if this year, so if you put that £1K in ISA now and then £5640 after April, you will have £6640 of the £12K as Tax free savings plus any more you can get in before the end of March.

Am I understanding this wrong as I'm getting a SAYE releasing in Feb and this was exactly what I was thinking of doing.

Just paid £250 of bits and bobs of earnings into a branch based account, still local so not too inaccessible but less so than if online. May have to move it somewhere less convenient...

Great to read how people are doing, well done all so far! Especially interesting to hear how people plan to free up money to save, really helps me as I'm not at all sure how I'll be doing that! Thanks all!

DOH! I've just rethought this through and I am assuming you are in the same position as I and do not currently have an ISA. However I guess you already do and have maxed it so far this year.
