Hi there!
I am a graduate of the fantabulous 'Pay off ALL your debts by Christmas 2012' (Hi Jemma and Gang!) and would like to take the next step and join this thread please. Only problem is I started my Maternity Leave on 20th Dec, when I gave birth to our lovely son. We have a big family and did not manage to actually SAVE anything in anticipation of my going on Mat Leave, but neither have we racked up huge CC debts, (just medium-sized ones due to Christmas) so am really pleased about that.
We have lived in Canada for the past four years and if I am successful in saving $12k in 2013, then it will not get gobbled up by day-to-day expenses. College education is expensive here, but if you save money in a special bank account, then the government will top it up by 20% each year - free money...yay! So I would like to open individual college accounts for each child.
If there is any money left over, I shall use it for travel. We came out here with great plans of exploring the NW Territories and going to exotic-sounding places like Prince Edward Islands, Nunavut, Quebec etc, but have so far spent all our time caring for the children and working full-time!
OK, I'm going to switch Steve Wright's Sunday Love Songs on I-Player and have a read through the Old-Style Boards for inspiration about how to bring in some extra cash. There seems to be a lot of emphasis placed on money forums across the Internet about the importance of having a second income, as there is no such thing as a job for life anymore...must educate myself.

I think this year my no spend days will be counted as not spending any cash or spending on credit cards, I`'ll leave the petrol in the car this year and only include it as spending when I fill up! This should hopefully mean that I pay more attention to those little spends which I use to ignore as I thought I had already spent money that day by driving somewhere!
Since my partner and I share finances as I' m a stay at home mum, I' 'll include him as well so got to try and get him to come home for lunch or take it with him as lunch time is when he spends the most!
His wage and child benefits are the two areas I' m not including as extra income, everything else will be considered as savings! Going to use my savings account to physically put the money away so it is definitely saved and not just sitting in the account to get spent!:TGrocery Challenge 2019 YTD-£820.46/£7200(11%)

Hi there,
I've also been reading these posts for ages, but now I want to join in. I did have about 4,000 in saving in August but changed jobs (with a few week in between old and new one) this year and relocated to London which meant most of it went on that.
I want to save £6,000 this year!
