£1000 for me this month - I might manage another £500 once I rationalise pots a bit. But I'll keep that back for next month which will be very expensive car-wise, so I will feel I've managed to put something away!
Thanks to everyone for keeping me on the straight and narrow - it would have been harder without this forum. And thanks to Slowlyfading for all her workSave £12k in 2022 thread #7:
Save £10,000 Jan-May 2022 THEN RETIRE!!
Final total for (half) year: -£4,0000 -
Still plodding along saving when we can.
Have just resent the total for Julys savings as cant see it on the front page.
Also managed to put away £400 so far in August - nearly at my target hope to reach it by end Sept unless anything crops up unexpectedly.MARCH £62.38/2500 -
Thread has gone all quiet. Bad news from me. For reasons which i will not go into, i have taken a massive hammering on savings, was up to about £10k just a week ago, right now im at £7,021. I have paid all bills for the month though bar my mobile phone bill. I am owed about £400 cash end of this week which will pay this months fuel off the credit card. Then i have another fortnights pay coming in on the 30th of August. Aim is to finish this month on at least £8,000 which will basicly mean im going for the £12k overall that the majority of the thread are. Im definitly going to step things up and tighten the belt a bit for the rest of this year. I will honestly be delighted with £12,000. £9,000 of that is coming out straight away so i will go into 2014 with £3,000 in current account which is 2 months expenses.
As far as long term goes, summer 2014 aiming for £20k+ in savings plus get engaged:eek:Living frugally at 24

Start my new job/scholarship in a few days time, extremely excited, but really not sure how it will work out financially with regards to saving money, as starting salary is pretty low and expenses will be high. As for this month so far, my 18th birthday and other one off factors mean I am likely to add £1260 to my savings in August, although some of this will probably be spent in the coming months once my expenses increase. Very happy with this as it puts my total at £3300 for the year, way above my original 2K target. Hopefully achieve £5000 savings in 2013 :j.YoungBusinessman wrote: »Thread has gone all quiet. Hi Youngbusinessman, shame to hear that your savings have taken a hit this month, but £7K so far this year is still fantastic.
Save 12K in 2013, #203.

Well done better than expected this month. So far over £400 but I have changed my strategy a bit...each night I check my bank account and round the figure down to the nearest £10. That small difference is then transferred to my savings account. By doing this I have saved an extra £50 this month, I'm dead impressed!
Have been informed by DD2 that I am coming with her and her MIL to the Metro Centre to spend my baby savings money in November. Cheeky mare!!! Really looking forward to that NOT. Her MIL is a right bag.
Well done Youngsaver and Youngbusinessman...an engagement fabDo we all need to buy a hat?
Pay off all your debts by Christmas 2025 no. 15 £0/69490 -
No no no!!! Do NOT buy a hat!! It will effect your £12k in 14 challenge, try and borrow a hat, much more MSE!! Everything seems to happen at a later age these days, except maybe having kids. See alot of kids with kids. Didn't have time to make my lunch for work this morning or eat before I left so iv just had a bacon roll and red bull for Brekkie, not healty or MSE but it was fine
if I can get over £8,000 mark this month il be happy with that. I have other savings aswel that I saved before this year that's in a very low paying ISA but at least its there if I need it. So £9,000 from this challenge will be used, the rest kept as living expenses for start of next year. Can't believe we are almost into September already. I get a payrise about March/April time so hopefully I'm not fed up of my job by then and can make most of it over next summer. Good feeling having savings and managing to save but now iv well and truly got the bug always feel could be doing better. Well done everyone, seems the thread has been forgotten about by some, hopefully it picks up as we go into the home run.
Looking forward to a brilliant Xmas if I hit the £12k at least!!:eek:Living frugally at 24

Well done guys. Keep up the good work!
£400 so far in August- updated in my sig. I have some more put aside, but going baby shopping at the weekend, so not sure how much will be left. Going to be a close one this year but hopefully will hit my target in time for my mat leaveTotal Mortgage OP £61,000Outstanding Mortgage £27,971Emergency Fund £62,100I AM NOW MORTGAGE NEUTRAL!!!! <<Sep-20>>0 -
I had totally forgotten I was doing this (naughty), yet remarkably am still doing ok with saving money! Currently my savings account is artificially very high as there is gifted money for a house deposit in there, but I'm still plodding along with my own stash. That said, I won't make target now, as I am using my savings for the move, but will now count anything saved again by the end of the year as a bonus and will see how close I can get still!0

I haven't forgotten, I just have nothing to add
I've been checking religiously. This month has been so expensive, I wouldn't be surprised if I've spend near £2.5k. £1265 of that is an investment that should help with income in the next few years. Ouch. The car is in for a MOT a few weeks early next month and I have a feeling I will need new front tyres. I haven't budgeted for these so I need to sell some stuff to cover it, can't be dipping in the savings
£20k in 2023 = £2718 £2023 in 2023 = £196.41 Grocery challenge £250= £195.80 **MONEY MAKES ME HAPPY**0 -
I really need to update my things again. Already hit £20k target, so had to reset a new goal. Aiming for another £20k before Christmas. Going to be optimistic!0
