Just opened a S*ntander cash ISA at 2.5%. Was thinking of opening the 2-year one, but the 0.3% difference in interest rate just isn't worth it (if I have to close early to buy a house or whatnot).6k in 2012: £4200.00/£6000.00

I bunged my full ISA cash in at 2.6% for 2 years at the Britannia/Co-Op yesterday. There may be better rates next week, but I can't be bothered with the hassle of queuing/sending signatures off etc. I can't see them being hugely better; and I may get get some Co-Op divi vouchers - got £36 last year cos my mortgage is with them too.:)Save £12k in 2022 thread #7:
Save £10,000 Jan-May 2022 THEN RETIRE!!
Final total for (half) year: -£4,0000 -
Good start to the month, £700 stashed away and £24.20 in interest turned up too so that's gone back in the pot. Will add in another £500 later this week, fingers crossed that the car makes it through the MOT without any issues and there might be a few quid more too as i've budgeted for the worst.
Well done all for progress0 -
£300 in the regular saver for March, but holiday expenses, mot costs and big cc bill have meant I've since had to withdraw £1000 from savings account. This has really upset me:(
Thinking more rationally i should be able to replace some of this when I get 2 months overtime payment next month so onwards and upwards.0 -

It is upsetting when you're trying to get your teeth into a challenge like this - happened to me too last month when I had to find £900 in a hurry when an expected bill was unexpectedly huge and I had to almost clear out my emergency fund savings to pay it.
I console myself with the thought that it's much, much better to take the money from savings than not have it in the first place, and savings can be built back up again - i'm almost halfway back with the emergency fund now, and it'll be full again next month. But it's still annoying.0 -
£1193.60 for this month, I'm chuffed! It's because we got our deposit back (from six months ago!), but considering it also includes paying for a holiday I'm very pleased
Now I need to decide what to do with my ISAs!Saving £10,000 in 2013: £4491.48/£10,0000 -
Oh whoops and I may have put it on the spreadsheet as April but it should be for March! Sorry slowlyfadingSaving £10,000 in 2013: £4491.48/£10,0000

I wish I had of found this thread earlier when I started saving, it is so inspiring.
I have been setting myself saving targets since 2008. Back then the start of the recession hit home very hard as I was out of work for 4 months and had no savings to support me. In 2008/2009 I found it so hard to even save £3,000 a year.
I've had better luck since then and have managed to save around £8,000 to £14,000 a year. By mid-April this year I will have put away over £50,000 in various bank accounts - an amount I never imagined I could achieve on my earnings, and in these times of austerity. It makes me wander what I would have achieved had I have started saving earlier.
This year I am setting my sites high, as I have grabbed myself a brilliant contract. Could I be put me down for £25,000 target. By Mid-April I will have already put away around £8,000.
Also, does interest earned on your previous bank balance count? (as I have earned around total £1,400 this April in interest alone on my balances from various bank accounts). If so, this should take my savings total to around £9,400.

I'll join the MOT club. Mines due aswell, taking it this Saturday. I already know I need 2 new tyres, so need to try and figure out where to get these from cheaply. Hoping they will ignore the rattling cat converter and the emissions will still pass otherwise I will have to dip into my ISA which I will not be pleased about!Total Mortgage OP £61,000Outstanding Mortgage £27,971Emergency Fund £62,100I AM NOW MORTGAGE NEUTRAL!!!! <<Sep-20>>0

I believe it is fine to count interest as long as it is received by you between 1st January 2013 and 31st December 2013Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000
Mortgage today = £161,690.76
