I didn't manage to put anything extra in for March, which was expected. I did, however, manage not to touch anything that was already saved, this was not expected and so I am pretty bloody pleased! Still leaves me at a piddly £150, but it's something!

It's not piddly.......just think you could have easily spent it without anything to show for it. £155 for me and I'm happy.
  • Agreed, its not piddly at all as its much much better saved than owed, so its a step in the right direction.

Thank you all. I needed that :) It's sometimes hard to see the positive side when you've not managed to add anything to your already meagre savings. Still, this month heralds the beginning of the new financial year and this is when my savings were always due to pick up. I've put about half my money into the savings account, with the aim of leaving about half again of that there at the end :D

got into a bit of a mess as my current account has better interest than any of my savings! once I have sorted out the confusion over which current account money is actually current account I should be able to update my savings for March

  • Love this thread as far as the support is going, still a fair few of us sticking at it. Seems a few have either gone quiet or have dropped out. I am selling a piece of equipment I own but very rarely use tonight, should get between £800 and £1,000 for it. Straight into the savings. Same with the £1,000 I am away to get once I finish my own freelance job, should be finished and invoice in tomorrow night, not sure how long it will take to actually get the payment in though, could be upto a week or two.

At just over £3,000 and these two things will add £2,000 to the pot. Feels like I'm finally getting going and making it happen instead of sitting back hoping that it will. This is possibly all I will save in April though as out of my two pays I have all my regular bills plus credit card is due(£700)...I will be left with £600-700 end of month if I have no extra spends but away to get both bedrooms in flat decorated. I'm starting to think £15,000 might be more realistic but i will not be complaining at that!

I added an extra £1640 in March to fill my cash ISA - first time ever. I will update my total via the form on the first page to show this. This payment will leave me pretty broke until June now, so it will even out I think.

Good luck everyone, the totals on the spreadsheet are looking good!

You are far from slacking . Put away what you can and you will have some good months and some bad months. I am over half-way there in just 3 months, but will taper off as I am also overpaying on my mortgage - need to ride out the low interest rate :D!

It really does not matter at all how much you save, as long as you get into the habit of putting something into a savings pot (and/or getting rid of expensive debt). The many heroes on this forum include the unemployed, underemployed, self-employed, stay-at-home mums and students many of whom face real financial challenges and still manage to save and keep us all inspired!

There was an article in the newspaper about people saving more than ever before. Me thinks they are onto us :D:D:D:D!

    Hi,

This thread looks intriguing, how does it work if i've bought a car or something which i was saving up for?
