That's been a combination of interest, frugal living and more recently cashback.

Read this and went straight over to Quidco and my cashback for my car insurance (which I bought in September last year!) has finally come through. Another £50 to add to the pot when it's paid :money:

Well, I'm glad I held back the money from that repaid debt, the electricians bill was quite a bit higher than I'd guestimated  (to be fair there was a lot of extra work which had been identified though thanks to my dad's willingness to do his own modifications bless him). Hey ho, at least we can put it against the rental income once it's let.

  • Not been on for a bit, just updated sig & spreadsheet.

As thought, I do need to replace my car ASAP and there will be a house move coming up soon so the saving pot will be wiped out... but what are savings for if not for these situations? Will be nowhere near my target at the end of the year but anything is better than nothing :)

Not sure if anyone else uses it but I have started doing the snap and save app for topcashback where you get money back for grocery shopping! Really easy to use and I have £4 claimed for last couple of weeks which will hopefully tot up to a nice saving throughout the year! Payable within days too which is great! :)

    Hello all

Reporting in with Feb's savings of £509.93, which I'm pleased about. Topped up the FD regular savings, and the rest in M&S. Probably should open an Isa...need to get on to that.

Not sure this month will be great as just had a massive hike in energy payments, more than double  . Have negotiated it down for next month but it counteracts the savings made from moving our broadband and phone...Oh well, Overtime and a BIG reduction in the mortgage thanks to the fixed rate ending next month.

Everyone is doing so well. Good luck for March!

£1,025 for Feb - I will go and update the front sheet.

It will be a harder challenge this year because I am transferring more to the joint account. If I am going to save £1k every month, I will have to increase my income. I need to raid the garage and cupboards for stuff to sell!

Did the first raid at the weekend and raised £3.67 at one of those places that pays you for clothes. Wooohoo, to getting paid for tired old bed linen and dresses I bought when I was oooooo 10 years younger.... :D

I feel slightly guilty for not donating the dresses as they were good quality :o
I've got a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.

Hi everyone, I just need to have a bit of a moan.

I'd saved £2,500 in 2013 so far, but I have needed to fork out £6,000 to fund 50% of a shortfall in our house purchase as the vendors unexpectedly demanded a £12,000 price increase a few weeks ago threatening to place the house back on the market if we didn't agree. We were forced to agree as we've had collapsed chain issues over the last 12 months and this property represented our best chance.

We didn't want to increase our mortgage borrowings so had to stump up cash and had to dig into my cash ISA :(

So it's back to zero savings for 2013 for me... and I'm not going to be paid in March as I've had to take some time off and don't get paid :(

To meet my £15,000 target by Dec, I now have to save £1,700 a month from April... Tough target, wish me luck.

Just sad to see my hard earned savings go down the drain with an unscrupulous seller... Rant over.

I did, but no one else said anything so didn't think people agreed ;)
I absolutely agree. Happy to do this.

Starting the month of March with a £140 saving towards the total at month-end.

Aww no! That's rubbish :( At my work we try to get missives signed really quickly in this day and age to avoid things like that as best we can. What a shame for you.
