I had a halifax credit card that as being dealt with by Payplan between 2009 and 2011, in 2011 I settled at a reduced rate and paid off the remaining balance, Halifax placed a default marker on my report in Oct 2011 the month before I paid it off, Should this show as from the date I actually started to fail to make payments or is this correct? the whole time with Payplan i didn't miss a payment.
here is how it shoes on my report

Not necessarily - you would probably first be getting missed payment markers - then the default marker.0

As you can see (now i've put a pic up) the late notices didn't start building up until Feb 2011, not really sure why and Halifax can't explain because nothing had changed since the debt management plan started in 20090

Anyone got any idea?0

How did your payplan payments compare with the the contractual minim amount you would otherwise have had to have paid? Did they change or reduce much over time?
If they were significantly less at the beginning, then you may have a case that the series of 1 & 2 payments/months in arrears between 2009 and 2011 do not accurately reflect the account status. i.e. the sequence of 2-3-4-5-6 and then a default should have been recorded earlier if they were going to do that.
It is always a subjective call by the lender though.

If you don't think that the recorded history and then default is a fair or accurate reflection of your payment history, then complain. if necessary taking it to the FOS/ICO if you get nowhere.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
