Sorry for what maybe a silly question but is a mortgage exit fee the fee

It's usually made up of 2 elements and is paid to the outgoing lender

Deeds release fee (basically putting your deed in an envelope).
"sealing charge" - closing your acount on their records.

    It usually applies to everyone.
So it's not the same as a penalty fee for leaving your mortgage early.

A year or 2 ago these were aound about £70 - £150 but now some banks are pushing their luck and charging £300 which is a bit much for putting something in a envelope and pressing a button on a computer.

If you argue hard enough you are pretty much 100% guaranteed to get a deducation simply because it's costs the lender MORE money if you go to the ombudsman so they will always settle before that stage (but you might need to be persistant).

Women only eh, bit sexist aint it.

Well it's a womens' magazine and they like to read stories about women being sucessful in various roles.

I'm a female motorcyclist and I can't buy a motorcycle mag without half-naked women being plastered all over it.
So I don't think it's any more sexist than many other magazines (like loaded, Nutz etc.).

I have applied and sent them a flattering pic.

I'll let you all know if I get into the mag so that you can have a butchers (but sorry guys I'm happily married - LOL !!!)

    I think that's a non sequitur isn't it?
I'm in the process of reclaiming charges for my brother but I haven't got the money yet so won't fit the bill.
Besides we're both blokes in our 40s.

  • Hi, I'm 39 and claimed my bank charges back back in April last year prior to Martins appearence on Tonight, happy to speak out...got my charges back within 2 weeks from Natwest after I harrassed them following my 1st letter from the consumer action group website and followed it up with a direct phonecall to Stuart Higley, just to let him know it had been sent recorded delivery to him personally, to the head office and to the registered address.

I don't think they are interested in me as I only fit half the story.
They want someone who has been succesful with both the mortgage fees and the bank charges.

Probably me being dumb but I didn't read it that way.
