What's his budget for it? Would she maybe like something like a spa voucher, or a weekend away (you can get lots of bargins on things like Groupon for them).
Though to be honest she sounds a bit like my mum - she must have had millions of pressies of jewellery, perfume, etc. but she still loves getting them - I think because she would rarely buy that kind of thing for herself.

what about a train/coach ticket to a town orcity that she'd like to visit for shopping - and perhaps vouchers to spend while there. Could even get a hotel room for the night?

Or, if they're planning a holiday, some foreign money or a museum pass or voucher to somewhere she would like.

    A spa day?

    A family photo-book?

    Something for the garden?

***Ah, just read podperson's post, I've suggested similar things**
  • Aha something for the garden thats a possibility and I was just thinking maybe a radley passport cover or something. The budget would be about £80. She doesnt like spas but a groupon weekend away is a possibility. Cheers guys, anyone else feel free to wade in :-)

you could have a look online for your nearest garden centre chain - we bought my mum a gorgeous birdbath the Christmas before last & got it at their 20% xmas shopping evening.
  • a birdbath would be a good one actually, she doesnt already have one!lol! or maybe artificial topiary type tree thing for at the front door?

Maybe a little water feature for the garden (if she doesn't already have one) something like this http://www.primrose.co.uk/ivory-solar-cascade-three-tier-fountain-water-feature-p-39144.html (just did a quick search so may be better/cheaper options about)
  • lastminute.com has some good deals for city breaks and short weekends away in this country. You can also use the secret hotel option in many UK cities to book a surprise night away
  • I'm not sure where your mum lives but I received a voucher for a shopping mall that looks like a credit card and it had £250 put onto it by my brother. It comes in a lovely envelope and looks beautiful. It meant I could spend it when I wanted (it's valid for a year) in whichever shop I wanted and also I could spend it bit by bit. I was thrilled!!!!!
