Hi
I was just wondering if anyone would know why HMRC are requesting a P60U from 2009.
I thought they would already have this information so im a bit confused as to why they are requesting this.
Any help is appreciated

There is a query on your tax underpaid/overpaid?0 -
.As xylophone says, it's either a potential overpayment or underpayment of tax. Back in my day we'd normally only have asked for a P60U if we identified a possible refund was due.
Only HMRC can say for sure and it's probably worth ringing them as anything here would just be speculationThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

They are asking for it because they can't close that tax year. They have notification that you were in receipt of a taxable benefit in that year but not how much the benefits office paid you. To close that year and the following years they need you to supply the missing information in the form of the P60U. If you can't then go to the benefits office and ask them how much they paid you and send it on to HMRC.This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
