Bankruptcy Help?!?

Hi,

myself and my partner both declared ourselves bankrupt in 2008. we aretrying to build or credit up as we would really like to try and get a mortgagein the next 10 years. Can anybody advise what we can do? we are both 25, mypartner is with Barclays and im with Co-Op Bank. Are there any kinds of creditcards or loans we can take out and then pay back immediately or something likethat?

Thanks in advance

Becky

Hi Becky and welcome to the BR board.

Have you cleaned up your credit files yet? Check them first before applying for credit. You will find companies report to one of the CRAs rather than all three, that's why it's suggested that you get your credit files from all three of the CRAs to see what's held on there. Also bear in mind some companies ignore the credit files and use their own credit scoring system

Then, if you don't already have a contract mobile, apply for a SIM only deal first and a few months down the line you will probably be offered an upgrade to a full phone contract.

Others have had success applying for either a Vanquis or Capital One credit card.

Ensure you don't apply for too many lines of credit too quickly though as that can go against you with credit checks. Best to leave at least 3 months between each application.

TF's thread below is good too.
