Once you've sent the letter, make sure you get an appointment with the CAB ASAP. Private message me once you've talked with the CAB if you need any help.

Don't forget to send the letter recorded delivery, then you can prove they have received it

I think sending it to both would cover you, it's only another pound or so for a Recorded 1st letter.

Connaught Collections are well known for this "trick" - they have aquirred a debt that is over 6 years old and they use this process, by threatening bankruptcy, to get people to start paying.

If you have not made any payment or acknowledged the debt in the last 6 years, there is no legal action that Connught can take as the debt is statute barred. They can only ask you for the money.

It will actually cost Connughts money to take you to court and from the info you posted, they would not get anything anyway if you had to sell your house.

Send the letter that some on else has posted on here, and also go into your local County court and ask them for the paper work to have a Statutory Demand Set Aside. It does not cost you anything to do this, except you may have to attend court.

By sending that letter, Connaughts have to legally proove that you have acknowledged the debt within the last six years.

I recently had to do this for a client of mine, to which Connaught backed down and they have now said they have said they will no longer chase the debt.

I earn a decent amount of £2043.00 AFTER TAX, but fell into the trap of getting the secured debt around my kneck. I have £100 p/m to live on not including fuel, will i lose my house although there is negative equity?
do i declare bankrupcy or sell?
