It's probably been done about a million times before but I'm stuck.
Just came back from the doctors and he's gave me a telling off.
Basically I'm tall (6'7) and weigh roughly 21st.
I've always been quite active and have recently joined the gym again. It's just my diet. I just don't know what to do. Everything I try has no results.
I would really live some advice on to change my attitude to food. Are slimming world etc worth doing? I'm so Nieve when it comes to food.
Advice/support or someone to laugh at me welcome

            Hi Artnoble
My hubby has a similar problem. He's 6'5 & hovers around 20/21 stone. His problem, like many overweight people, is down to bad eating habits. We've both done Weightwatchers (online) & found it very successful. I lost a stone (which I've kept off) & hubby lost around 3 stone (some of which is back on!)
These are my tips
1. Join Weightwatchers - preferably 1 where you go to meetings for the extra support & advice. Loads of easy & quick recipies & suggestions too.
2. Change some habits - i.e. cut out potatoes/rice & have cauliflower cooked in stock instead. Tastes amazing & goes with everything including curry & chilli!
3. Try to be more regimented with your eating by eating at set times & sticking to it. You will soon begin to recognise when you are hungry & when you are not.
4. Be very good Monday -Friday & let yourself relax a little on Saturday & Sunday.
5. Stop eating after 6 or 7 pm at night. TV snacks are BAD!!!
We did all of the above & it was very easy to stick to. Making small changes is fairly easy and lots of small changes make a huge difference.
Good Luck :-)0 -
I suggest you read the thread on here about the 5:2 diet. It really does work and its easy to do,The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

The 5:2 or the low carb should work. I'm 6'4" and once weighed in at over 17st. The doc told me to lose a stone. I lost over three.
The problem I found with the ow carb diet as that it is rather restricting socially. The 5:2 is flexible and a lot easier to keep to. In my opinion.0 -
If you like carbs, try Slimming World. Their Extra Easy diet allows carbs and is really easy to follow. If you're not bothered about carbs, their original diet allows lots of protein, i can lose weight easily on both but find the Extra Easy diet slows it down a bit but i can easily lose a couple of pounds a week on it.0

Thanks all ill look into everything.
Interested in joining weight watchers as I'd like the support. I have no discipline at all. I'm just really confused with everything as there is so much on the Internet telling you different things I just don't know what to believe.
I'm advised to lose 5 stone. It's going to be a long haul

"Everything I try has no results."
What on earth have you tried?
I just dont understand it when people say they cant lose weight.
Eat less and move more. That is all you need to know.
Dont listen to adverts and gimmicks trying to sell you unnecessary junk.
Eat non processed foods, meat, fish, veg and fruit and you cant go far wrong.
Avoid alcohol and fizzy drinks as much as you can. (yes even the "diet" ones)
And before somebody asks, I have been in the situation where I have had to lose weight. I put on a lot at uni and lost it with the above guidance.0 -
I'm busy singing Slimming World's praises to anyone who asks about my weightloss. I've lost 45lb (3st 3lb) in 20 weeks with SW's Extra Easy diet, it's well worth the £5 a week you pay to go to group especially if you can stay for the group meeting itself ('Image therapy').
You get all the support you could ever need from the consultant and because you're weighed on the same scales which are calibrated to be precise each week. You also get the support of other group members and are able to swap tips, tricks and recipes as well as talk about when your find your weak points to be (e.g. snacking whilst watching TV etc). As well as the weightloss awards you also get awards for your activity for you really do get encouraged to do more walking or any other activity you enjoy. Each group is a little community so you get to know everyone and everybody supports each other.
And the best thing? You can still have the things you enjoy - chocolate, meat, carbs etc and whilst some are enjoyed in moderation the point is you can still enjoy them
And if you decide to try it, even without joining a group, pop on over to our SW support thread on here 'Bounce Bounce Bounce....' and you'll get all our support too

Hi artnoble, What will work for you depends on why you have put the weight on in the first place so different diets work for different people. For me, I was hungry all the time even when full, this was caused by insulin. So the low carb diet works for me because it reduces my insulin levels and has the added benefit that I no longer get the 'sugar shakes' . Unlike gloomendoom I haven't found it at all restricting socially, I can drink lattes, and wine and always find something to eat even though I am also veggie. It also doesn't seem to hurt if you cheat occasionally.0

            - Only eat three times a day.
- In the evening yogurt (that burns fat when you're asleep).
- Drink a lot of water
- and take a walk minimum 30 minutes per day! Maybe in your lunch time. Or if you haven't got a too stressful job you can keep a dog
so you have to go out at least three times a every day
Good luck

            Hello
I was in a similar position to yours 2 years ago.. Then was when i decided to change the way i live! It took almost 5 months to see some noticable difference but now, after 2 years, i am happy with what i did
I can make sure that i didn't need any of these weight loss pills.. what i just did was to boost my metabolism, which makes it easy for me to eat as much as i want and lose pounds easily when i feel like that! And here are my tips:
-Add 2 strengh work outs per week (make sure you tone all your muscle groups, every week)
-Drink 3 liters of water per day
-Eat 6 small meals per day
-Eat MUCH protein, expecially after work outs (which means milk, yoghuart, tuna, chicken etc)
These tips will help you develop your muscle, lose fat and boost your metabolism.. after you succeed this, be sure that you will always be the winner of the weight loss game!Trying to save some money!0
