Premium bonds question to pay off debt?

(Am going to be a bit devil's Advocate here. )
I think in your position I wouldn't cash them in. 2 and half months isn't that long really and if it makes my Grandad happy to check them then crack on.
You must think it might upset him otherwise you wouldn't have wondered if you could manage not to tell him.
I understand the dilemma I just think 2.5 months........be gone before you know it (unless it is Jan and Feb cos they drag) and your Grandad can still check the numbers and you never know you might WIN!
in true bonkers MSE style I would try and raise the money some other way?

Hey Itsa, long time no type!
I must admit, I am with Buffy on this one. Your debt is at 0% (if it wasn't then I might not feel the same). I have followed your story so I know some background. Also, when you get debt free you will have a £1000 head start on your savings, grandad will be happy, mum will be happy.
GapMortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000
Mortgage today = £161,690.76
300 271 payments to go.House buyout fund £21,000/£40,000

If your debt is 0%, then I would keep the premium bonds in case there is a real emergency and keep slogging on to pay off your debt as best you can.
Plus, I think you are really nice to give in your Mum and Grandad on something that important to them for whatever strange reason.0 -
In answer to your original question, when I check my Premium Bonds each month, I only have to type in my holder's number and it is a yes/no answer, so Grandad wouldn't know how much the value invested is. However, if you cashed them ALL in, then I would imagine that when he puts the Holder Number in, it may say, there are no premium bonds matched to this Holder Number.
However, I am agreement with the last few posters - you are borrowing at 0% and will only be 2.5 months from debt free date so do you REALLY want to rock the boat with Mum/Grandad? I think you don't, but I obviously understand your keen-ness to be debt free.
Only you can make the final decision but if you have such a strong conscious to be asking us lot the question, could you live day-to-day avoiding being "found out"?
Hope this helps
