Hi - my DS (15yrs) is a keen guitar player and already has an acoustic guitar - for xmas he wants a new one and I was thinking of getting him an electro acoustic one..but don't which one to get
I have looked at
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Yamaha-F310-Full-Acoustic-Guitar/dp/B000WITGQO/ref=sr_1_26?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1354025045&sr=1-26
or do I get one like this?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lindo-Feeling-Electro-Acoustic-Battery/dp/B00446YUBG/ref=sr_1_27?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1354025078&sr=1-27

he has been playing for nearly 4 years and he still can't tune it well! so thought a built in tuner would help - would that be uncool?
and what sort of amp would I need to buy?
Help!!!!!!

I've been a guitar player for the last 40 odd years (30 of them professionally). From a visual inspection I'd say that any of those guitars would be suitable for a learner. It would be down to personal choice. Of course if you get an electro accoustic you open up the possibilities for using an amplifier in the near future. I see that as a good thing as it improves technique.0

I'm 15 too haha!
My parents bought me the Eastwood guitar dlb posted for christmas last year! It's a great guitar, and I absolutely love it. Unfortunately I'm so busy with school right now I don't play it as much as I'd like to, however it is a pleasure to play. The quality is great and it looks really nice too!
I think their customer service is also great if you have any issues. My parents ordered me an acoustic, however it arrived very slightly scuffed. They wanted it to be perfect so asked if they could have a replacement, however they were out of acoustics. They told my parents we could keep the acoustic one, and for a little bit more they would send us the electro acoustic! So we have two guitars haha!
Have a lovely christmas!0 -
It may be a little above your price range (based on your links) but I recently bought this guitar for my 14 year old daughter, it is her 2nd electro acoustic guitar and all our guitar playing friends (some 40 years experience) like to pick it up and play it. You may be able to search and get it cheaper. I would recommend an amp to go with it, she has a gibson amp which does her voice and guitar but we also got her a 2nd hand fender amp to go with this guitar. it has auto tuning as well, but be warned the days of cheap replacements strings will be behind you.

Finally Lidl has good quality guitar stands in stock at the moment for about £8 brilliant quality0 -

The Takamine guitar on your link is one of the most recognised names amongst guitar players. An excellent choice.0 -

Wish I could afford it but its too expensive - he is getting an ipad as well and i did not want to spend too much on a guitar...but thanks for the suggestion.0 -

Your original choices were fine for a beginner. Even now I'd be happy to play any of them.0 -
Yes I agree, my dd also wants an i=pad but as she just recently got an expensive (well for her age) guitar, I am looking to an alternative at a 1/4 of the price.0
