recently read a tip on here to get rid of smells in jar lids so you can re-use
them

what sort of smells ?? I always wash in very hot water thoroughly any jars and lids as my DDs friend makes lots jams and marmalades, in exchange for all I can give her she keeps me in marmalade during the winter0

steralising tablets and boiling water, i would suggest.Opinion on everything, knowledge of nothing.0

I don't reuse any jars or lids that have had anything too smelly in them such as picked items or spicy sauces. I find this cuts down on smelly lids.0
