We Are Decking the Halls with NSDs December Challenge

Not an nsd today, we went to town for a few presents and a pub meal. Town was practically empty considering how close we are to the day. There were people about but not as many as there should have been. A sign of the times maybe?
I haven't been anywhere today but I was talking to a friend who has and she said the exact same thing. She said she had to remind herself it was a Saturday and not Sunday. Either people are organised this year or there just isn't the money to spend anymore - I'm guessing it is the latterFree by FiftyDebt of the Moment -August NSD Challenge 14/150 -
Ooh she was a spirited one, both inside & out
& one of Gloucestershire's best exports!
When FIL passed, the family were discussing the option of having more wreaths to mark the anniversary. I told (then) hubby he could do as he felt, but to please not include my name; I didn't--& still don't--want to actively commemorate such an awful time so concentrate on birthdays, Ma/Pa Day & crimbly instead.
When it came to me decorating the kitchen I got to an awkward bit to wallpaper so stopped to think on how best to tackle it, then had FIL to one side & my dad on t'other--like those cartoons of a littlesitting on one shoulder & an
on the other--giving me the benefit of their experience :rotfl: It made me smile & gave me the oomph I needed to complete the task, they all continue to give me comfort & I really don't care if folk think I'm barmy..
since i was so young when my dad died, I unfortunately didnt get the time to know him as a person. but when it is my time, i will have eternity to get to know him up there in the big old blue. and if not then maybe the worms that have turned us back to earth may meet.
people thinking i am barmy? i am barmy! dont want to be normal, seems all very odd to me!

Front page all updated
NSD #15 for me yesterday which was easy because I never went anywhere. Planning much of the same today but I have given in to the pressure of my DDs (I have no idea where they got those thumb screws, is Igor missing a pair?) and putting up the 'c' word tree.
Thing is, with a puppy in the house I'm guessing it won't be long until it comes back down again  :rotfl:

Me again - I'm sorry
I have come over all bossy in anticipation of my new job and decided to practice on you lovely lot (and you're not even paying me :rotfl:)
I have been thinking about the updates etc over the holiday period and to all my lovely updaters :A I am giving the fortnight off :T
I will do the update for Sunday 23rd and then there will be no updates until Thursday 27th when I will try to catch up. I'll do the updates and start the January thread in between Christmas and New Year but the last one will probably be Sunday 30th. I'll be back on January 2nd to tidy this one up and update the January one and continue to do them until the Saturday 5th one and then it will be over to spoony and back to normal on the 6th.:)
I will be here (because I'm addicted) and on the days there is no big update I may well do some little mini updates just to keep us all going and motivated but it will be an as and when kinda thing.
I hope this is okay with everyoneLet me know what you all think.
And remember, just because we are taking some time off from the updates doesn't mean we aren't watching you :rotfl:Free by FiftyDebt of the Moment -August NSD Challenge 14/150 -

Freeby - just seen - well done on your promotion!!!:j:jTheir dad wasn't the best at telling tales of Grandad's daring dos, but I've always encouraged them to ask about him--& others--who watch us from above & they speak of him as if they had known him for years.
As they were growing up we took flowers to Grandad's 'doorstep' & left them for him to see when he finished working for the day, painting rainbows for the Kear Bares (<<to stop searches flagging us up). He'd been a painter & decorator after leaving the oldest Service you see, then my father was the train driver, MIL the cook & a much loved uncle teaches them how to cuddle
even though the kids were older by then. They are grown lumps of things now but we still say we're going to visit doorsteps, & they talk with a healthy interest of the ones who have gone before.
So if that makes us doo-lally, I really don't carefreebyfifty wrote: »....

Didn't specify which party but if I did get to HoP mmwwoooooaahhhahahahahahahaha
They wouldn't like my policies oh-no-sir-ee, because I vehemently believe that no one job is more important than another. I was criticised on a different thread way back for saying we need dustmen equally as much as brain surgeons, when someone suggested my theory was flawed because of the years of study a doctor must do. Yes of course they're very learned--you'd hope so!--but they can't operate if there's dirty swabs from a previous patient hanging around. Knobs are quick to diss shelf stackers as a sub life form but how would they buy their champoo if folk were not there to pick the grapes, make it, bottle, transport & offer the bluddin stuff for sale  When I worked in a branch of a well known store, the cleaners were suspicious of my motives when I tried to pass the time of day until one of them asked why I spoke to them. I was taken aback myself by the question till she said no-one else bothered with them, but I said I was grateful for what they did because it meant I could do my job in a pleasant environment. Or is that not how it should be...

I have again fallen off the wagon as I've been so busy rushing around trying to get ready for Christmas! I'm still being really good at taking lunch into work with me, which has usually been bought by my mum and put in the fridge, but I keep picking up little bits of things for presents on my way to the bus every evening. Or buying bits for baking. I've managed 3 NSDs since my last visit (much too long ago!) so am up to NSD #4 must improve this week which will hopefully be helped by getting my shopping FINISHED today!*2014 £365/365days - £52/£365* *20p Savers club #17 £12.00/£50*
