I'm from Australia and usually post by air mail, but slit it up into smaller packages rather than 1 big one so its cheaper. However this year I was super organised and posted all the pressies (my mum, dad and sister) on the 22nd Sept. The last posting date for Australia for surface mail was the 28th Sept.
I managed to have all the pressies in 1 parcel and was only £15 to post with also insurance on it this time. I will do it again thats for sure, cheaper and a lot less stressful.0 -
we have family in the states too we just order through amazon.com andit gets delivered to them wrapped as a gift, often cheaper than uk amazon too.Received £2,626.00 in PPI -2013:j

Do you have contacts at a local university ? Staff and students using the post room at our local one get very very good overseas rates.Living the dream and retired in Cyprus :j

I use Amazon too but this year I took advantage of the free overseas postage that tesco were offering for clothing to advertise the new service & so everybody has new pyjamas, dressing gowns & hat & scarf sets
. Delivery took about 2 weeks.
I find that if I send my items by Surface at the beginning of October, they are usually sent Air anyway - the guy in the PO told me that one year0 -
Wow...and I thought I was organised!! I actually enquired about this at the post office this morning (before reading your post) and couldn't believe it when he said the cut off date was about 5 weeks ago!! Note to self...get pressies sorted earlier in the year and send surface mail or use Amazon US. Though will give Parcel Monkey a go and see what their prices are like (thanks for the suggestion Grapey)
My dads bday is in August and when I ordered his pressie online, the website had 50% off so I had a look through and spotted some things for my mum and sister as well. The website offered free p/p with orders over £40 so also got a couple of bday pressies sorted.
Decided to then check at my post office about surface mail date for Australia and thought right I'm getting it all done and posted that way. It was a breeze, though did feel weird wrapping xmas pressies in Sept, lol.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160
