Barclays bank unfair charges?

Hi,
Not sure where to post this have a question I hope I can get some help here.
I'm having some financial difficulties and I have been over my overdraft threshold, I can go to £500 od and then by being charged into a further £500 od but charged weekly for the privilege. I've had a couple of direct debits 'bounce' so i went online to cancel them so to avoid further charges but I noticed that I'm well over my allowed overdraft but the last payment was the bank taking 'charges' which has tipped me over, is this allowed? It's a bit unfair when I'm already struggling.
Would I have any luck getting some money refunded if I wrote them a letter explaining my situation?
I figure that already I well probably be charged over £150 this month alone in charges!
I'm wondering at this stage if I would be better to take all my money out of my account when I get paid and pay my bills another way, is that a good idea?
As it is I've had a letter this weekend confirming a PPI payout to come so at least I can see some relief coming..eventually!
Any help gratefully recieved!!
Thanks.

Re the charges (and have tried .... believe me) Bar*clays are a nightmare to try to get them refunded.
Their stance is that they have notified you of the date that the charges will be applied, well in advance, and it's therefore your responsibility to make sure there's enough money to cover them - and if not and you therefore incur more charges, then it's your fault.
By all means try tho ....Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250
£1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000

Can a family member or friend lend you some money to prevent you going overdrawn and you pay them back in a couple of installments?0

Thanks...but even when they have pushed you further into your overdraft? They usually do tell me when the charges will be taken but not on this occasion..
To the other reply, I wish I could borrow the money but unlikely to happen..:(0 -

That's what happened to me and they wouldn't refund them .... they said they'd sent a letter - which I never got eitherGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Oh lord...this is Barclays isnt it.
Ive been in trouble with them on and off for the best part of 10 years. Just as I almost get it square, they throw a charge at me and push me in again. The worst of the lot is that £22 a week charge for 'agreed overdraft spending' which means that if you bust your overdraft, they let you have more at an extortionate cost. It's taken an act of god and will of iron to dig myself out of that hole and I finally had the satisfaction of closing the flipping account finally.
You wont get your charges back...sorry. Best you can do it to get it paid off and close the account. Barclays are one of the worst offenders for pushing people into OD again and again with fees.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it
