Hello everyone!
I just wanted to get a bit of advice/info from you regarding my credit score
Let me give you a bit of info on my situation and why I am a tad concerned
My partner and I lived together for a year and during this year we accumulated a lot of debt. This was with credit cards, loans and overdrafts and we both defaulted on many a payment and all resulted in going through a debt recovery company. We then moved to Austria and began repaying all these debts. Thankfully ALL debts have been repayed since about a year now
It has almost been 4 years sinced we have lived, worked or even had a proper bank account (I have a small savings with only 5GBP) in the UK however we are looking to move back to England and i'm very concerned about how our credit score will be :-S
So my questions are do we still have a bad credit score after all this time? Will we have trouble renting a flat when we return, Will we have trouble getting bank accounts and credit cards again.
Also now that our finances are back on track we are thinking about buying a house. Would it even be possbile for us to get a mortgage even if we had 20% of the deposit?
Any feedback is more than welcome - Thanks!

Well, the statute barred limit is 6 years, so possibly is the answer. The only way to know for sure is to pull your credit files from the likes of Noddle and see.
With regard to renting, yes, you'll quite possibly need a guarantor simply because you havnt been resident in this country for the last few years. Potentially, you could be asked to pay a more hefty deposit or perhaps rent up front, but until you have details, there is nothing very much more that can be said on the subject.
With regard to the mortgage, assuming that funds are not in this country, you might run into money laundering regulations that require you to prove the providence of the money. We cant have any old person slepping into the country and setting up shop, they might be a terrorist wanting to buy a house....<swivel eyes>. On second thought, terrorists get houses given to them courtesy of the tax payer....
All joking aside, as a presumably honest civilian of decent character, you'll be asked to jump through various flaming hoops in order to take out a mortgage so just be ready for that one.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it
