    Do you know the size of this compared to the Delana, I bought last week but returned yesterday, too big! TIA
    i have the alvar which i love it is a very smart looking bag but.....for work this bag is just a little too big and i have just started looking at the delana myself as it looks a love style and shape. i know you can wear it over the shoulder but would you say it is to bulky?

    p.s-also does anyone know if the price of the delana comes down at all as it's still quite pricey in the colours i like
    have now given up smoking since feb 13th 2014 loving the money I'm saving

    Well for me the Alvar is fine - the small alvar is very small and you have to just have the very bare minimum.

    Have not tried the duo which is supposed to be in between.

    In mine I carry a large old type phone, large blue badge card, fold up shopper, large purse, pens, hand cream, small make up bag with some bits in, keys, squarish camera and spare battery.

    With all this there is still piles of room of I wanted a bottle of water, book or scarf.

    The Delana in Gentle Grey did come down to £26.97 a few days ago. Worth keeping them in your basket and check the price every day (sometimes they even change in the course of the day!).

    Also worth checking this thread regularly as that's where most of the bargains are listed! It's invaluable - but ultimately costly!!!! (if you see what I mean)

    This has appeared on the QVC website is listed as a 'Today's Special Value' but that's probably an error and should read 'One Time Only' price-

    Kipling Phila DH Handbag with Shoulder Strap

    Today's price £58.44 instead of normal QVC price £70.00

    P&P: £4.95

    All gone now :( Just curious - was it promoted on QVC or did it just sell out because it was mentioned on here?

    Ok, so now I need some advice please from the experts who negotiate with Amazon! I tried to cancel the order but it was too late. So I went on live chat and they have agreed to refund the difference (yes I know it's only £2.69 but we are here to save money after all;)). They said they've put a note on the account and I need to contact them again when the wallet arrives so they can put the refund through. Is that the way it normally works? I thought they would just adjust the price now, but this means I have to get in touch with them again. Is that what happened when you had this issue?

    :)

    Yes you just get back in touch via live chat & they give you a refund

    I saw the black heather in the flesh yesterday and really like it, would love a hubei in it but can't find one at a reasonable price.

    Thanks, this sounds like my bag! I agree the small Alvar is very small, will look out for the Duo. I am returning the Defna as it is too big for a daily bag and too small for an overnight bag.

    The Kipling website details the sizes and capacities of all the bags.
    Delana = 10 litres
    Syro= 8 litres
    Alvar = 5 litres
    Fairfax = 5 litres

    The two I ordered arrived yesterday (Syro and Delana). The Syro seems ideal as an everyday bag. The Delana for me is probably more suited to days out/holidays/travel when you need to carry everything but the kitchen sink! I thought about getting the Alvar but at 5 litres may be a bit small for me. Will try out the other two for a few months and then decide! :)
  • I only have 2 Machidas and a large Kipling purse, so just a beginner compared to you all, but love looking at all your finds.

    I love my Machida, it had everything I want.:) Now they are gone, can anyone suggest nearest equivalent now please - I like cross body?

    I wondered about the Alvar but worriesd it's thinner. I need to have a big very bulky purse, + my kindle. Then when out, I also get a small water bottle in + sometimes a small brolly. It is like the Tardis.

    I also looked at The Rachele, but it's a shame that on one side there is no extra little pocket like my Machida.

    Also liked the Vintage New Guard, but can't find it cheap enough now. I'd like a brown colour. Thanks for any ideas.
