Good Craft book for Beginner Not sure if this is the best place to post as it's not just abut Christmas crafts but I have been asked by a couple of people what I would like for Christmas.
Having bought a house this year I thought it would be good to have a craft book to give me some ideas / guidance for things to make for the house / garden / homemade gifts.
I enjoy trying different things although I've not a great deal of experience so it's probably best if things aren't too technical.
Have any of you used / know of any craft books which you would recommend for me please?
TIA

Go into a good bookshop and have a look as some are better than others and it depends what craft you prefer. I like Kirstie Allsops craft books but you could always look at craft magazines and maybe get a subscription.0

I would second the craft magazine suggestion. It will give you the opportunity to read about lots of different crafts every month and nearly all those magazines come with "free gifts" that will help you build up a crafting stash and assist you with trying some of the ideas. It would also help you to choose your favourite craft because they are all so different!
Alternatively - and please don't take this the wrong way - you could get a children's craft book. That would give you very simple, clear instructions and lots of photos. At least, if you wanted a really easy way to learn knitting, I would definitely suggest a kids' picture knitting book as one of the easiest methods (unless you have a friend who can teach you). I'm sure other crafts would benefit the same way.
You see, what helps the most, in my opinion, is simply masses and masses of photos for each and every step. That's why I've recommended the two types of "book" that I've mentioned.0 -
If you do decide to go down the magazine route Simply Homemade is a nice magazine. I'm going to subscribe when I've got some money as I can't always get it in the shops.
I get childrens craft books out of the library sometimes, and have got some good ideas from them.0
