Good Craft book for Beginner

Not sure if this is the best place to post this but I have been asked by a couple of people what I would like for Christmas.
Having bought a house this year I thought it would be good to have a craft book to give me some ideas / guidance for things to make for the house / garden / homemade gifts.
I enjoy trying different things although I've not a great deal of experience so it's probably best if things aren't too technical.
Have any of you used / know of any craft books which you would recommend for me please?
TIA

Rather than spend money on books which might not be what you want, why not see what the library have first? or search am@zon for craft books, there's a vast choice of books covering different styles - vintage, shabby chic, country etc

I think a lot of it will be down to personal taste and style. For me, I love these two books:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Zakka-Sewing-Japanese-Projects-Household/dp/1584797207/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1353946079&sr=1-1
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cute-Quilting-Stitching-Charlotte-Liddle/dp/1907563326/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1353946140&sr=1-1
They don't require a lot of sewing experience, especially the zakka one, and amazon does a 'look inside' for them both.0 -
Get on pinterest, it's got loads of crafty ideas that are amazing. Even I'm starting to make some.Opinion on everything, knowledge of nothing.0
