Very annoyed with Next's refund policy

I recently made a purchase on the Next store website, I am also registered for a Next Directory Account but always pay for any purchases I make there with my Credit/Debit cards in full when the statement arrives, so my balance on the Next Account is always zero. A couple of weeks ago I returned goods to one of their stores as is their policy and a refund was processed at the store. I was shocked to find that they have refunded it to my Next Account along with a return I did earlier instead of refunding my credit/debit card, this has resulted in my Next Account being in credit of almost £100, I really want this money back, what can I do, and is what they are doing allowed or is it a scam to get you to spend the refund with them again.

You didn't purchase the goods on your card then did you?
You paid off your account with it.
As far as Next are concerned you used an account for the purchase, it is not their fault that you paid it off and then decided to return the items.0 -
Have you asked them? They may be willing to return your payment to you, if you're polite. But, as far as I'm aware, it's allowed and not at all a scam.
It's commonplace for stores to refund to the same place that the original payment came from. Since you've paid from your account, that's where your refund has gone. The fact you've cleared your balance in the meantime is a separate issue.Competition wins: Where's Wally Goody Bag, Club badge branded football, Nivea for Men Goody Bag0 -

OP has stated that they did not charge the purchase to their account, but paid for the order using debit/credit card.
OP - contact Next customer service and ask for a refund of the credit balance. This may come in the form of a cheque by default so make sure that you ask if they can do it straight to your card.0 -

I didn't read it that way. I understood it as the OP pays off their account in full with a credit/debit card as soon as the statement arrives.
Perhaps the OP should clarify.Competition wins: Where's Wally Goody Bag, Club badge branded football, Nivea for Men Goody Bag0 -

OP - you need to clarify this.
If you wait for your statement to arrive and then pay it off in full you ARE using your Next Directory account and Next have refunded you correctly.
Only if you use your credit/debit card at the time of ordering would a refund go back to the card.0 -
You do realise that Next Retail Ltd and Next Directory Ltd are completely companies?
It even tells you on the FAQ's on returns that your account will be credited!0 -
I should think it will also depend on why you returned the goods. If they were faulty in some way then you are entitled to a refund, but if you simply changed your mind then they don't have to refund and credit would be acceptable (legally)0

You're wrong thinking that.0 -
Even if directory returns are faulty the money goes back onto the directory account not in cash/back on the debit card they used to pay it off. They're correct in putting the balance onto your Next account OP.0
