Hi, I wondered if any of you lovely people have some ideas. Each year I do a dinner party for mine and my husbands parents and my sister and her husband to say thankyou for all their help looking after our children. It is always themed. This year with the jubilee and Olympics we have themed it Best of British.
Can any one think of some good food ideas that are British, any decorations, traditional games etc. Thanks

Tesco was selling Union Jack bunting cheaply when I was in yesterday, so you could get some of that. Theme your other decorations and tableware around a red, white and blue colour scheme. You might be able to pick up paper table cloths to match, or just use a plain white cloth that will complement everything else.
If you want to be MSE, you could print Union Jacks or traditional British pictures (red telephone box, Beefeater, Big Ben, etc) and laminate to use as table mats.
For a meal, how about roast beef and Yorkshire pudding?
Afterwards, you can play a game of who am I?, based on the Olympics. Stick a post it note on someone's back, with an Olympic or Paralympic athlete's name on it. The person wearing the post it note has to ask questions and then guess who their athlete is. You could also do this with famous British people, royalty, etc. you can make it harder by only answering yes or no, or by limiting the amount of questions that can be asked.0 -

Bring everyone into dinner with "The Roast Beef of Old England" playing. That's an old tradition still kept up in some quarters.0

Beef wellington, scones, British Wines/Beer, cheddar cheese - or any cheese named after an english place, pies; pork pies, steak and kidney pies, cornish pasties.
And who can forget... marmite!
