You need a settlement figure from the finance company.

Unfortunately I can't settle the finance agreement with them as I won't have that kind of cash to pay off the car without them agreeing that I can sell the car privately and if they do allow this the option would be to sell it and pay the remainder of the settlement if I can't get the amount of money I need but I doubt they will suggest me selling it privately

Approach your MB dealer not MB Finance (which I think is Black Horse). The dealer may be prepared to settle the outstanding finance with MB and take the vehicle off you. He will be able to sell it on with warranty and low mileage but don't expect him to make you a great offer. Depending on the model and condition you must expect to lose at least 25% of what you paid but that may still be a bargain for you in the circumstances.

You must have known about the new job when you bought the car.
Unfortunately I didn't know about the job when purchasing the car and it all happened within the space of two weeks but all documents had already been signed for the car.

Have just discovered this is a duplicate thread :( - if you do this please at least put a link on both threads so people aren't repeating what others have said / waste their time .....

I'm still struggling with the job issue - you must surely have either applied for the job ...... been thinking of applying for a new job .... known your current job wasn't secure etc etc etc - all of which may have meant a change of working location / traveling arrangements.

So - why on earth would you purchase a brand new £35k car in these circumstances?

If, as I noted on the other thread  you were being made redundant & your employer didn't follow proper legal requirements - then you may be able to pursue this avenue.
    Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
    2016 Sell: £125/£250
    £1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000
    Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!

Curtiss - You've got two threads running on the same topic - this just confuses things.

At least three threads - motoring, debtfreewannabe and this one!
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

Sorry, I am a newbie to the forum world and thought I'd have to post in the different subject matters e.g. motoring, loans etc for the best response in hope someone would have had a similar experience.

    Will not happen again!

You just post it once, its a loan/finance issue since the issue is about the finance rather than about the car. If it were in the wrong place a board guide would move it.

    Okay, thanks for the tips
