How much on your Christmas grocery bill - including booze?

When I was living in student halls my friends and I decided to have a Christmas meal together but instead of paying £20+ each plus drinks in a restaurant we cooked it. We chipped in £10 each (there were 10 of us) and for that we got:
2 chickens (one plain, one coated in herbs)
1 pheasant
stuffing
sprouts
carrots
mash potatoes
roast potatoes
pigs in blankets (sausages wrapped in bacon)
gravy
parsnips
prawn cocktail starter (prawns, ketchup, mayo, paprika, lettuce, cucumber)
Christmas pudding
Apple pie
Brandy sauce
Custard
ice cream
... and had £40 left over for wine, beer and baileys.
We probably could have cut that cost as well because we bought pre-made pies, sauces, pigs in blankets and stuffing.“I want to be a glow worm, A glow worm's never glum'Coz how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?" ~ Dr A. Just stocked up on booze for christmas and new year ( and in between for taking to houses) at a total cost of £0.49. All tesco finest - 1 prosecco, 1 cava, 6 red wine and 2 white. I doubled up my £25 clubcard vouchers, used my 50p voucher and the £5 off a £40 shop
Ive ordered my butcher meat so maybe £40 there, the rest is trimmings, nibbles, maybe £10 cash and the rest i'll use my M&S vouchers. Probably about £120 worth of stuff but at a cost of just over £50

Thats more than annoying!! When is it valid until? Can maybe use it in a food shop but still...irritating! Live and learn!
Live and learn what?
You have a £2 off coupon, you spend it on treats you were buying anyway, or you spend it on stuff you have to buy. Either way it is £2 less you give tesco and/or £2 more you have in your pocket.
One way you are getting £2 off stuff that will make you happy, and the other you are getting £2 of stuff to keep you alive. But you were going to buy both anyway!
I can't see what I am supposed to be learning?0 -

It was more a note to self...live and learn to check tesco mag first before shopping. It was a light hearted comment :S0 -
What period do you count the Christmas shop as covering?
I guess we spend a little bit more than usual, but not a great deal. for those that are spending alot more is it due to buying more food or more expensive food? (or bit of both?!)0 -
i wont be spending much more maybe about £40 or £50 extra, OH is working at Christmas this year so other than the odd drink with our meal we wont be buying much alcohol.
I dont tend to spend that much extra as I buy less of my normal shop as buying different things for Christmas.
I will buy a rib of beef and usually buy a different cut that is cheaper, also probably a gammon or goose as no one is keen on turkey but will last a few days so wont be buying meat for normal meals. Also croissants for breakfast, some pickles, cheese but always buy this, buffet things £1 a box and some cashew nuts etc0 -
including booze and all the food i think we are looking at about £500. I buy in bits from mid november as to make me feel a little better and spread the cost0
