Hi everyone!
I've had a search through the recipes indexes and slow cooker threads but couldn't find out how to do this so apologies if I've missed it somewhere.
Has anyone stewed or cooked fruit in the slow cooker and if so do you have any tips/ recipes? I'm looking to try stewing fruit that I can then add to yoghurt/ porridge etc in an attempt to increase my fruit and veg intake!
Thanks in advance *Jellie* x

I'm a great advocate of stewed fruit with yoghurt - think home-made 'fruit corners' - and I DO have a slow cooker (which I adore), but I wouldn't d-r-e-a-m of using it for doing fruit in.
I'd rather use a pan on the hob - it only takes a few minutes, and I like to keep a close check on it. I've also used my microwave for small amounts to use up a couple of apples that were getting 'past their best'.
Might be good for a slow-cooked chutney though.

Thanks Lilyplonk- maybe cooking on the hob is a better option.2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons0

Hello JELLIE - I always cook fruit in my slow cooker, it is super for things like rhubarb as the chunks stay whole and don't go to mush. I chunk up the fruit and just put in 1/2 a pint of boiling water, then cook it on high for 2 -3 hours, it doesn't take long. I sweeten it when it's cooked. I check it after 2 hours by using a skewer to see if it's soft enough and give it 15 minutes extra at a time, testing it at the end of that time. Hope that helps, Cheers Lyn.0
