Hi Guys
Does anyone know how I can check the AMOUNT of a registered charge on my property without going to the lender please? I think a Land Registry search will just give me details of who the lender is. I know that already...

Is the debt owed yours?0

Yes it is mine0

The lender is not required to share ongoing balance information with anybody.
So getting the figure from the lender would be the most sensible thing to do.
The CRAs may receive the information from the lender. Pay £2 to Equifax / Experian and find out.0 -
Thanks. I think you may have the answer to my question right there. The amount of the charge will be the balance outstanding to them right? I was hoping it might be for a lesser amount because not only have they taken a charge over my current property (presumably for the amount owing to them) but also for the amount owing against two other properties.
So now, if I want to downsize in order to clear my main mortgage (with a different lender), I can't because of this 'double' charging by my bank.0 -
Are the properties solely owned by you, or jointly owned?
Is the debt in one name, or is that joint?
If it's a single debt on a jointly owned property or properties, it's a restriction, not a charging order.

Our current home is in joint names. The other two properties are in joint names.
Our bank agreement, for the finance to buy the other two properties, says "A legal charge over (our current home)" plus a first charge over each of the other two properties.
But there was no way our current property would ever have sold for enough to cover all three charges.
Looks like we are stuck here....0 -
We are looking to retire, so are too old to get a 'proper' mortgage on the other two properties, even if we could raise the deposits - which we can't...0

Sorry, I misread your post.
I mistook charge for charging order. It's been a busy day for charging order business.

No worries. Thank you for your interest. But looks like we have been well and truly stitched and are stuck here until our children are able to sell the other two properties for what we paid for them!0
